I read that 1 5/8-in screws are used for 5/8-in drywall and anything thinner all you need is 1 1/4-in screws. When would you use these 2 in. screws? My contractor told me to get the 2 in. screws for the 1/2 in thick drywall and I am wondering if these may be too long and unnecessary. Thanks for your help.
Asked by: puffymama
Hi puffymama. Typically gypsum manufacturers recommend 1-1/4” drywall screws for 3/8”, ½”, and 5/8” panels. Thanks for your question.
