What does 'polymer coated'?

I'm looking for glue coated screws to get rid of some floor board squeaks
Asked by: UncleDave
It means that they have a thin, paint like layer of polymer (plastic/paint like substance). These are not 'glue coated'.

Can these be used in place of galvanised for beach areas

Asked by: Ac
Hi Ac. While these would be a better option than galvanized, the best option would be stainless steel fasteners. For best results try using our Grip-Rite Max 2-1/2 in. x 10 Stainless Steel Deck Screws. Thank you for choosing Grip-Rite.

#8 x 2-1/2 in. Philips Bugle-Head Coarse Thread Sharp Point Polymer Coated Exterior Screws (1 lb.-Pack) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from These work okay I do a lot of renovation work and I keep the full line of exterior polymer coated screws on hand. These are a good choice to use when standard wallboard screws may rust but the job doesn't justify the cost of stainless steel screws. The only drawback I have with these, and all long Philips head screws, is that if not enough pressure is applied to the head while driving the screw the bit will slip, ruining the bit and stripping the head. I've decided to change to construction screws, with a star bit head, for all my screws 2 in. and longer. Don't get me wrong, these will do the job, but there is a better choice on the market. They cost a little more but they're faster to work with and after all time is money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong Hold Exterior wood screws feature a coarse thread for fast, reliable holds. Box count is 84pcs (I believe). Start easy in green or kiln dried wood. I have found they work best if you pre-drill a pilot hole prior to trying to screw through dry or hardwoods to prevent cracking. Their only limitation is the phillips head screwdriver. These would be an easy 5-star if they were offered in alternative drive styles such as Torx. Only found 1 or 2 in the box that was unusable due to a bad head. Multi-use for a variety of home needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong Screw Bits Walk Out It is a good strong screw. Unfortunately, it is a Phillips instead of a Reese Square bit and the Phillips walk out easily. Also the recess often has fill in it making the Phillips bit hard to insert. I used to be able to get them in a square bit style but HD stopped stocking them. HD's price is high for contractors that use these screws.
