I didn't pick up the door knob. Is there a certain door knob required for this security door.

I have two of these doors on my home, and one was replaced about two years ago because it was warped and wouldn't latch making the "security" lock non-functional. I went round and round with Grisham, even sent them pics of the warped door and they tried to blame it on my house shifting. I explained that if the house shifted, the other door would be warped, also which wasn't the case. For $700, I expect a quality door that won't warp in five years, and retains a nice appearance. The new door has already started to warp and the clip holding the interior window in place broke. That happened with the original door, also. The powder coated black finish looks really faded. In addition, the older of the two doors is so warped that it won't latch, either. I would never recommend this product.

So the door is beautiful. The feature of the dual bolt lock (one in the front where you put the key in and one in the back of the door) insures the security of the door remaining locked. However for the money you spend on the door, you'd think they would use quality hardware, but NO! The Grisham Diecast Metal Latch Kit for Self-Storing Glass Panel (model P150) is made of a cheap metal molding. Similar to that of plastic. The first time we used the latch to hold the glass pane behind the screen, it cracked and broke after 2 months (in the winter). Needless to say we had to hunt down the replacement part (which they charge $20)...I'm sure I'll need to by 2 since the cheap material is guaranteed to break/crack again. It is quite disappointing.

The steel construction and dead-bolt lock system are excellent.

This is a very cheap hinge system, it's the same type of hinge system you see with cheap aluminum doors and is not adjustable. This door is too heavy for this hinge and after time the door will sag causing the locks not to engage into the strike plate. Too many people are fooled because the price is cheap, there are better doors on the market

Superior security door. High quality, the best for security needs. The security features are some of the best available, and simple to install. It has a decorative/attractive design. Very heavy door, but it installed easier than standard storm door. The best money I've spent for security!
