Only problem was a broken pin on one of the rails that slide up and down. Fixed with stuff I had laying around the house. Fairly easy install. Gate is starting to settle and sag a bit, so locking holes don't aligned perfectly anymore. Does fold up really small and the swinging feature is very nice to have. I use to keep kids out of gun room, but if somebody wants in bad enough, they're going to get in. Old house with awkward door sizes and it fit pretty good. Cheaper for me than buying a steel door to fit.

This Chinese-made steel, “Expandable Gate,” “48 inch Expando Gate/black,” (SKU 311-101, Model 90002) is a great value for the money. Collapsed width (closed accordion) is about twelve inches and height about 79 inches. Maximum expandable width is greater than 52 inches. With a 52-inch opening, clearance between the bottom of the gate and the floor is four inches and from the floor to the top of the gate 72 inches. The wider the opening, the greater the clearance between the floor and the bottom of the gate. At this opening, the gate will not keep out cats or small dogs. Mounting options for the hinge plate (which holds the gate) are many. It may be rotated vertically or horizontally and mounted left or right of the opening. Also, it may be installed inside the opening or outside the opening. Comes with several one-way lag screws each about four inches long. A minimum of three are needed for the hinge plate and three for the lock plate. I used hex head lag screws. Lock plate installation positions are as many as the gate. Gate and lock plate have equal-size matching holes for a padlock. The gate may be accordion-collapsed or swung-out in the fashion of a normal gate. My install operates even better after application of Teflon spray. Instructions say to keep it painted owing to possible growth of rust. I did not understand why HD suggested the additional item on the purchase page that cost $9.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fergie76 Right item for the need!
We purchased and installed two of the metal 48" expandable gates, which worked very well for our needs inside our Gym facility. We needed a simple but secure way to control access to the upstairs area during public activities inside the gym area. It was a quick and easy install by our staff. The gates were secure when across the opening and when not in use they fold out of the way in a safe manner against the wall. The gates do have a place to apply a lock, but we did not use it since we have to still have access to the upstairs area in case of emergencies.

The gate was pretty easy to install. It helps to have a second person to hold the gate when bolting to the wall. It has been up for two weeks and is doing the job.

Gate looks great and works great, but two pieces were broken off inside the box, even though there was no damage to the box itself. Easy fix. Actually does come with screws, but they were tamper proof ones, so bought different screws. Chatted with Home Depot with a few questions before I bought it and they had no answers at all. Still turned out fine.

that I have a bit more security in the back of the house. After loosing my alpha dog, I needed a little more security on my screened-in back porch. Easy to install, I did need patiences, and I replaced the screws with hexigon lag screws of the same size (5/16" x 3") and a can of black spray paint. Just in case I need to remove the gate it will be easier, it is my back porch. Only dislike is the weight, but it is needed for the purpose. I find that moving the gate is very easy and quite. I am very happy with my purchase.
