Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Robin I sleep so much better now!
This will blast you with air and it's loud, but it's a "smooth loud". Completely blocks out husband's snoring and any other distractions. Also helps with sleeping on memory foam in Florida because it keeps the air circulating while the a/c vent is on far end of room. I can't sleep without a fan; and the only sounds I want to hear during sleep are my fan or heavy rain. Definitely one of my best purchases!

W@W~! People are right, this thing BLOWS. It's loud, sure, but why is it loud? WHY do ya buy a fan anyways? Low is like extra high, high is like a TURBO. I actually got 2 of these to stack in one of my sliding windows. I have an open concept with cathedral ceiling and I can still feel a stiff breeze 40 feet away even though the ceiling fan on high is trying to divert it. Anyways, a lot of cubic feet and the sun beating on the roof all day can put a serious drain of the central air. I mean the roof soaks up all that heat all day and radiates it into the house hours after it's been dark..... a real problem, but this thing does the trick.
Anyways, ya, it is kind of loud when you're trying to entertain. My solution was a light DIMMER switch. I got one that works by remote and does a fantastic job! That's what impressing me most. Even when the fan blades are barely moving, it still throws off a decent amount of air. That tells me the blades are designed well and efficient. IT also tells me that when it's on high, it's not just loud, it's moving serious volumes of air.
Bottom Line: If ya want a quiet fan, get a cheap plastic model or buy a good dimmer switch with this. I got mine on Amazon. It's a Carlon RC6000. Get this set-up, it's well worth the price and will pay for itself in a couple month of Central Air price reductions. If you do like me, I just put it on before I go to bed and it's dramatically cooler in the morning. Then just close up the house and hope it doesn't get hot enough to make the air kick in before I can evict it in the evening.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Swaz Powerful Fan at a Good Price.
We bought this floor fan as a backup cooling system (in case the AC stops working) for a small server room at our office. For its size, it really moves a lot of air. Compared to the ambient noise in the server room, this fan wasn't very loud. Overall, a good deal for the price.

Keeps my shop cool and air circulating all the time I'm working. With high power it does the job that I wanted it to do. It paid for its self the first day I seed it.

Boy does this thing move air! I just got it to dry out my kitchen after a burst pipe, turned it on for the first time and thought it was on high...no, that was low! So it's on "low" now and doing a fantastic job. Noise - well it's reasonable considering the gale that's coming out of it. I had thought this would double as a personal fan during the summer, but it's so powerful that it might be a bit much for that. But it will be brilliant for working on the house or even outdoors during the summer. So if its only problem is that it's too powerful - well that's better than the alternative!

During May we had huge rainfall in the Corsicana area. Over 10" fell one night that caused extensive flooding in many neighborhoods. My son gave me a call and asked if I could spend the day helping him vacuum out the water that flooded his bedroom!! We worked all morning until we were able to remove most of the water and I suggested that we purchase a high-velocity fan to help the drying process. After a short trip down to Home Depot and purchasing the 20" fan my son was surprised how much force and volume of air the fan produced. We ran the fan for two days and nights and it performed Great! I would highly recommend this model of fan!
