I purchased this more expensive version of this fan because I could see it would be quick to remove the "shroud" (metal grates) for cleaning. I would have given it 5 stars but this fan at full speed sounds like a 747 airplane and thus is not perfect. I like to use it when I need to circulate a lot of air quickly like when I come home and have had the place at 80 degrees all day (summer) and need to cool it off in a hurry. But I would not use it if I was trying to have a conversation with someone in the same room with it or you couldn't hear them! I also use it in Spring and Fall when I open my windows to bring in the fresh air and circulate it quickly.

I'm just OK on the fan. I needed something FAST (I was sweltering in the garage this past weekend) so I grabbed this one without doing much research ahead of time.
It moves a fair amount of air, but not as much as I had hoped it would move. It's pretty badly overpriced for what it is: a dime-a-dozen motor, blades, and a shroud. The bolts that determine the floor angle are impossible to get tight, so it slowly rotates up towards the ceiling over a few hours of runtime.
It's not awful, it does move some air... I guess I just expected higher build quality and more air movement for this price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PoorGuy seems to be a good buy.
bought this fan because it looked and seemed to be better than the models below it. it is not perfect as the nuts that are supposed to keep the fan at a certain place don't but that was solved with a zip tie from the stand to the grill not a problem.
it is a noisy fan even when running on low speed however it does move a lot of air.
if one wanted to I guess one could find all kinds of things that are not perfect on this model but for me it does what I want it to do.
my only real complaint is the cost of the fan itself
never heard of HDX and can not seem to find anything out about them.
all in all I am satisfied with this fan as it is doing its job and hopefully will continue for many years due to the cost of it.

I purchased this fan less than two months ago and it died three weeks ago during a thunder storm. All of the other fans are fine and are 4-5 years old. I use the other 20" metal fans, and think that they're far superior to this fan. The output of air is the same or less than a normal 20" metal fan. It's beyond loud even when being used in my barn, drowned out by the big 3, 4' fans and 4, 20" metal fans. Don't waste your money. Buy the normal 20", $45 fans and save yourself the headache from returning it. (and it's deafening noise)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SkirtManWorldFamous A great fan for a good price.
I was able to put legs on it without any tools or having to read the instruction manual (was the only thing I had to assemble. It works great, what else can say and it came in only 5 days to my house, really fast.

First off, you can't tighten the knobs on the side hard enough to prevent the fan from pointing at the ceiling as soon as you turn it on. I had to tie mine in place.
Secondly, the fan blades are *sorely* out of balance, so it vibrates, it's loud, and it doesn't move nearly as much air as it could. I'm fairly disappointed in it, but I think I may have kept it too long to return.
