Why is there such a problem with damages coming from the factory? I would think that Home Depot would correct this matter.

Can you shed any light on this tool chest? I want to order it but it seems that every one of them comes damaged. That doesn't say much for the vendor you use.

Answer: 
I received the box undamaged. But I can see why it would come damaged. It was delivered via regular delivery service and heavy. I am sure delivery drivers (UPS,USPS) probably just drop it when they get it close to your door.

The damage seems to be minor and does not really affect the use of our cabinet. This is going to be used in our garage and does not have to be perfect. The price point is very low for this type of cabinet.
My husband was able to repair very easily. The metal bends and moves with little effort.

Answer: 
I think the problem is the cheap material that is made of that easily bends during shipment. True that shipping company can put more paddings and label it fragile if they care. But it also seems that most people want to keep it anyways, because they don't want to deal with returning such large item that is so cheap anyways.

I wondered the same thing after reading the online reviews. The packing is good but the metal is thin. It ships from China so it can get a lot of jostling. I ordered mine online and had it shipped to my local HD store. It came UPS from Atlanta to Colorado with tracking. I was prepared to refuse it if the carton was damaged, but it wasn't. It's not a problem, it's the answer. The question was: Why is it so cheap? What Home Depot should do is just tell people that so they don't get surprised. I expected it because I read the reviews before buying.

The packaging material (foam) which is supposed to protect the bottom is too light. Add skinny material for the body and it becomes very easy to dent those corners out of shape. I would recommend that they ship with casters on which would add a few inches to the height of the box but at least it would protect the unit as they are build with a nice solid piece of steel which connects to the corners. I believe these are unadvertised factory seconds. This is indicated by two things: 1) The very low price 2) Mine arrived damaged inside an undamaged box.
I think more honesty-in-advertising is due with this product.

With the wheels installed, it measures 35 inches to the top surface. There is a raised ledge around 3 sides about 1/2" high to keep the top box from sliding off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product arrived in a large cardboard box which on outside was in great condition. However wh... this product arrived in a large cardboard box which on outside was in great condition. However when we opened box and took out product, it was SEVERELY DAMAGED, almost every corner was dented and caved in, the back panel had a huge dent outwards, we couldn't open some of the drawers due to dented side panels, We had to basically beat out the whole things, side, edges, corners with a hammer to try and get somewhat straight edges to put thing together, spending 3 hours on a 10 minutes job... ridiculous. The metal is flimsy baseline but it looked like someone in the factory dropped it from the roof then put it in a box and shipped it....

Overall serves its purpose but the hard plastic wheels are junk and it needs a handle. A recessed handle on each side like are on the doors would be sufficient. One of the wheels broke apart. The first thing you will want to do is remove the casters and brackets, attatch some rubber or poly wheels to a wood platform and screw it to the bottom of the tool chest. The product arrived damaged. Bottom was smashed on two sides and had to form it back into shape.

Ordered to store so I could check it to make sure it wasn't damaged before I accepted it. Undamaged, it was perfect. I recommend this item to anyone wanting good item.
