think it would cut 3/8 rebar?

im going to build a bunch of pvc sched 40 tomato cages using 1/2 inch pipe and fittings. I would like additional support for the cage than just burying the legs which is common in all tomato cages. I envision pounding some 3 foot sections of 3/8 in rebar about 2 feet into the ground, leaving 1 foot above ground to set the pvc cage corners over. I don't want to spend a ton of money on an actual rebar cutting toolbut would gladly buy this thing if anyone thinks it would indeed cut the rebar. ive heard if you just use a hack saw and go half way through the rebar you can bend it and it will break which would be one way to go also. thanks. from Vancouver WA

24 in. Bolt Cutters is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 134.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 24" bolt cutters I needed this in a pinch, was the last set left so I grabbed them. They cut great, but obviously were a return. They were super dirty and looked liked they slid around in the bed of someone's truck. Why take back, and the resell junk? It's not the first time either!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Casting flaw - Home Depot resisting replacing We used these things a few times before a flaw in the casting allowed one of the handles to break. My guys were out in the field so they went by the Home Depot for a replacement but were shot down. The company I work for spends a lot of money with the Home Depot each year and they are fighting $22 faulty product swap. Like the tool, a little on the weak side. I would look at another product, possibly with another vendor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outperform for the price I work in a commercial kitchen. One day, while my boss was across the street picking up an item not shipped for a party that night, I asked him to pick me up a set of bolt cutters under $25 to cut some chain in my garage. He brought this monstrosity back. Fast forward a few weeks, and these cutters easily handled my chain at home as well as cutting over a dozen locks from abandoned lockers at work and cutting out the folding compartment of a few shopping carts we use to move food products. While I'm sure there are better cutters out there (I'm worried the handles will eventually bend), you just cant beat the quality you get with this pair for the price.

I used it to cut wire shelving and it cut through it like a hot knife through butter. No reason to buy an expensive tool when this works great. Granted it is for occasional use. Not sure how it would hold up under constant use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bolt cutters These bolt cutters wouldn't even cut then small master lock on my gate. Which is why I bought them. I ended up just using my Sawzall. They are extremely stiff and hard to close without trying to cut.

I bought these to replace the larger red ones you sell, I only used them twice and they were useless after that. The 24 inch are adjustable and that helps give it some life. Time will will tell.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bolt cutters are lousy No, despite recommendationsome from 2 employees, showing them the exact lock to be cut, it was a major struggle and the lock left indentations on the "hardened" blades.
