Customer Questions & Answers

Does it come with bulb

Asked by: paspinks42
Yes, it does come with a bulb, but its a lower-quality one that will likely burn out with extended use. Probably a good idea to pick up extras :)

Is this considered an HID

Asked by: Christian
No - HID is high intensity discharge lamp usually using xenon gas. Halogen is bright but not the same.

And the light went bad. Unit is $10 and replacement bulb is $7. It's like the old Printer Business Model: Printer is $19 and cartridges are $39 every 90 days! Unit does not have an on/off switch. So plug it in and plug it off. Halogen bulb gets really hot so watch out. It's a shame that such a handy tool can be designed so thoughtlessly! They could have put a 20 cent switch in there easily. And a $7 halogen bulb is just not acceptable when you can buy an LED bulb for about the same price. My next light will be LED.

First of all, this lamp is great as a cheap light source for short duration of operation. If you're looking to use it for any real length of time, however, I recommend you purchase additional bulbs, as the original that came with the light burned out after about an hour of usage (I was using a high-voltage floor sander nearby, though, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it). This light also gets extremely hot, as is common with some halogen lamps, but if you keep it out of the way and hook it to an extension cord (the cord length is quite short, as other reviewers have said), it lights up an area really REALLY well. Overall, a decent purchase for the price, but would I purchase again? Probably not. I would've just spent more on the better-made work lights.

The bulb burned up after only thirty minutes (see pic). I wore gloves during install so no bare hands (note, my entire shop is lit by similar halogen bulbs - most go years before needing replacement). I went cheap buying this light for a project and I got what I paid for. Junk. Gotta find the receipt and return it...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth the money I bought two lights one last two days the other one lasted 3 days I didn't touch it with my fingers but I didn't have rubbing alcohol to clean the either because I'm at the work site slight bump and both lights died you're better off getting one of those LED work lights they're more expensive but it's worth it in the long run

Everyone needs to know: Don't ever touch a halogen bulb with your bare fingers. The natural oils from your fingers get onto the bulb. Then when you turn the light on, the oils create a hot spot on the bulb and then the bulb quickly burns out. Even when this light is brand new, you should first get a cotton ball or cotton tissue and some rubbing alcohol and clean the bulb. Then you should be ok for the life of the bulb. When it comes time to put in a new bulb, do the rubbing alcohol thing again. Even doing all this, halogen bulbs sometimes don't last too long. They're fickle. Don't drop the lamp, don't bump the lamp. When replacing a bulb, note that one of the electrical contact points in the lamp is stationary, and the other contact is flexible, allowing you to gently insert the bulb, if you are careful. If you just cram the bulb in there you might chip the bulb's ceramic end caps. If those get chipped the bulb doesn't last long. Did I talk about rubbing alcohol?
