The blade on this shovel is made of very light gauge steel and bent after the first hour of use. I was digging in soft loamy clay soil, noting too hard, and the shovel blade just bent in half.
Don't get me wrong, it worked as a great shovel for moving, scraping, cutting, etc., it just won't handle well in harder soils.
It could benefit from a few support channels/ribs on the back of the shovel blade itself.

Let me just say that the edge of the shovel is too blunt. I took one of the previous reviewers ideas and used a Drumel with a grinder bit to put a finer edge on the shovel to make it useful. Once I did that it meets my needs at a very reasonable price.

Not for real work. Blade started to bend then wood broke. I was just replacing a sprinkler head. You get what you pay for I guess.

They only have 1 option at the store.. Looked like a good product but the steel part is very weak!! Will not work for heavy duty work.. Only for soft wok. Your Grama will like it!

Used this shovel to edge every garden/ shrubbery bed on my entire property. Super easy and lightweight to use. The handle lets you rotate the handle downward to pop-up the dirt and grass you have just sliced through. The more vertical you position the blade, the straighter the cut. Worth the money under $20.

I cant even count how many spades I have gone through over my 15 years landscaping. This spade should last a long time. It is very durable and built strong i strongly recommend this this garden spade.
