Answer:
I'm not sure the setup of your home and how well you could ventilate the area, but this particular mix is fairly strong.. it almost knocks you over if the fumes hit you when you're breathing in.. they have a weaker percentage product by Klean Strip that is only 20% hydrochloric acid compared to this one which is 31.45%. They claim it has 90% less fumes than regular acid, which i've noticed in using it Read More

They claim it has 90% less fumes than regular acid, which i've noticed in using it with our pool. I'd go with that one first as it's also recommended for concrete and mortar use.. be incredibly careful not to spill it on anything obviously.. and make sure you're well ventilated while doing it.. Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Weak, watered down acid Don't know if this was a bad "batch" or just a poor product but it was so weak it may as well have been water. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to maintain pool pH This acid makes it very easy to maintain the pH in your pool and not need the expense of professional pool service. Maintaining the proper pH reduced the eye irritation in swimming pools. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product I bought this to clean stubborn urine stains in a toilet. I used 3/4 of one bottle. I made sure the toilet had a normal amount of water in it. Carefully but quickly dumped in the HCL. Kept bathroom ventilated and used gloves. Waited about 12 minutes, came back and flushed. I then used minimal effort to remove all staining and the toilet looked brand new. Highly recommended as long as you follow safety precautions. June 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Like in The Old Days I was really surprised to see HD carrying this when I went to get chemicals to get my in ground pool ready for the season. It is the strength I remember from 30+ years ago, and it really works. This acid is 2.5 times more concentrated than what everyone else is selling, and I expect that the one box will last me the season. It does deserve respect, however. This acid will ruin your day if you get it on something important, like your body, so be careful and follow directions when adding it to water. (NEVER add water to concentrated acid!) That said, I've used it not just in the pool, but for cleaning humidifier pads, toilets, calciumed up glasses--it works. April 7, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by muriatic acid for pools. I would be happy with this purchase if they would either leave off the plastic seal on the bottle. i have bought acid where the bottle just has the cap on it not a second plastic seal where its so hard to remove and then it leaves some of the plastic on the cap left there so i went to pour it and it splashed out because that film couldnt be completely removed and you have to be careful not to touch it. they should just have a cap on it not a film on the bottle after you open the cap or make it easy to remove. July 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Awesome! One Gallon every other week in 50K gallon pool keeps pH stable at 7.2. Be VERY careful with this stuff. Use gloves and EYEWEAR!!! I agree with other reviewer, that there is a problem with the seal. It NEVER comes off when I take off the cap. I have to carefully use a disposable plastic knife to remove it. Pour very slowly into your pool at only a couple inches above the water to prevent splashing. May 31, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well - needs better design of the seal under the cap Works well to bring the ph down in the pool. I have a new plaster so it takes quite a bit of acid on a regular basis to keep the ph in the recommended range. What is not good with this product is the way the seal is under the cap. It does not come off nicely like other similar chemical cans and the plastic makes it hard to dispense the product easily. Should be an easy fix... Five stars if the seal is redesigned!! May 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for lowering pool PH This lowered the PH in my 15,000 gallon above ground pool in about 12 hours. Great price as well! June 7, 2015
