Look at the black pieces. They have an arrow molded into the outside surface. This arrow indicates they should be facing up on the legs as they are tapered larger at the bottom, smaller at the top. They are mounted in pairs for each corner of the shelf. The shelf corner mounts are tapered inside (larger at the bottom, smaller at the top). A wedging action provided by the shelf loads being supported after tapping in place during assembly keep the shelves in place and the entire shelf unit stable. Read Less

Had excess black pieces that didn't fit in any way and not in instructions. Make sure the arrows on black pieces that align the shelves point upward, and shelves fit firmly in them . Also make sure they are equal on each leg.

I am also confused as to what the round, black pieces that came in a separate bag are for. There are 8 pieces total and although the shelf is now assembled and working fine I haven't a clue as to what the little round plastic parts are for. There is nothing in the instructions that refer to them nor are they indicated on the parts list.

The black pieces you are referring to I believe are the spacers to keep the parts separated during shipping, etc. They are to be discarded as explained in the instructions. The stops are to be seated in the grooves where you want the shelf positioned. Once in the grooves, the shelf will slide over it to keep it in position.

the black piece that came in a zip lock bag are for setting the shelve height. They are directional skinnier side points up and push shelves down to seat on the shelf height adjusters, this helps to stabilize the shelfs..

Yes. The posts have little grooves spaced out along them that the clips can grab onto. Just pick the groove that offers the heights you're interested in.

My husband had the racks assembled in about tem minutes. I am using it in my closet as an organizer. I attached one of the racks, 12"-ish, with a row of cup hooks, to one side, and I am hanging my bras there. Silly, but convenient.
I attached a length of chain I had in my tool room, to the opposite side of the rack. i added some adorable metal clothespins, and hung one pair of undies to each one.
I have every intention to continue utilizing these as I do some much needed organization. They are very attractive, sturdy, definite thumbs up. Read Less

The legs are in two sections. There are ridges on both sections that allow you to attach the plastic "stops" that hold the shelves. The stops are therefore adjustable by the ridges on the legs. I adjusted the height of the shelves to fit the plants that I brought in for the winter.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No experience Needed These shelves are quite easy to put together. look very nice in most all settings plus because of the material and construction lay-out, they rarely need cleaning. This one was a perfect fit to fill in wasted space. Out in the open, I can see what we have available and know what needs to be taken care of more so sooner than later. I will be getting more for use in other storage areas. September 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Life saver Needed to control counter top clutter in kitchen as we were running out of space. I had purchased a lighter weight wire shelving that while inadequate proved the consept. I found this shelving on line while grazing and ordered it with pricing less by almost half and the shelves being substantially stronger than the earlier set. I only need to attach this unit to the granite counter top in a non-destructive manner. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great storage shelf. This was very easy to put together and just great for many uses. It is currently being used as extra shelf space for clothing in a closet, which works wonders. Very portable and easy to move. A great product for great price October 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The shelf unit is very easy to assemble; it is durable/long lasting; and it looks good; it is very reasonably priced, and can be used for a number of different purposes. We have 9 of these units around our home, inside and out, and have been very pleased with this latest purchase and will purchase it again as the need arises. October 25, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy more than one! I use these to organize my quilting supplies. Super easy to assemble. They are great for bins and books, yet not as deep and bulky as their cousin, the larger "restaurant type." Great under a window. They unify the area, making it look neat and organized. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy and well constructed No tools required. The legs connect with screw threads and easily screw together. The black sleeves do not connect all the way when you put them on the legs but that's ok. The bottom of the little black sleeves will snap in place on one of the grooves on the legs. Make sure you slide the shelve on right side up (look for the logo on the shelves, that side up) or it won't be a proper fit over the black sleeve. Super simple to put together and looks nice. I actually am using it in my bathroom to put towels and extra items on it. Matches my chrome fixtures. Most linen towers are super narrow, this works perfect or what I need. September 5, 2016
