Mine would no longer pump and the pressure gauge never moved.
The compressor motor ran.
I unplugged it and removed the 6 screws for the cover
The connecting rod for the compressor fell apart, with the piston scored and parts that were laying under the cover.

Answer:
The "Use and Care Guide" can be found on the Product Page on Home Depot's website. If the compressor is constantly running, it suggests that it may be a defective pressure switch or excessive air use.

Answer:
Check the brass pop-off valve to make sure it is closed by pushing in on it towards the pump housing. Occasionally these get stuck "out", never allowing any pressure to build.

Air compressors "inhale" air along with moisture and other particles that bypass the filter.
When the metal tank cools, the moisture inside the tank condenses and runs to the bottom.
Typically, you will find a condensation drain valve at the bottom of the tank.
Daily maintenance includes opening this valve at the end of your workday and allow the condensation to drip or spray out as the tank releases stored air.
Most often, when a tank will not build pressure, the condensation drain valve is open and allows air to escape faster that the pump can fill ... resulting in no pressure on the indicator guage.
Try closing the condensation valve and then restart the pump. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Glad they discontinued this air compressor This is a very compact compressor and about the size I needed for small air operated light aluminum sheet bender. I ordered it online and it was delivered on 10/27/2014. It arrived and would not turn on fresh out of the box. I took the cover off and the capacitor for the motor was not plugged in, simple fix, but shows a lack of quality control by the maker. It is very noisy when it ran. It ran occasionally for 20 minutes a day to keep pressure until July 6th, 2015 when it stopped building pressure. I removed the cover to discover that the connecting rod and balancer cam fell off and the unit is now scrap metal. It is so cheaply made, that I would not recommend this to anyone to purchase. It is still under warranty, now to fight with returning this to Home Depot for a compressor that may last for more than 9 months of occasional use. July 7, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Affordable excellent looking, good for small project The air compressor looks good. I bought it to use around the house. I ordered one and it was shipped on time and arrived my house very fast. I opened up, connect the power and turned on. It was going up to 100 psi and then releasing all the air without my intervention. It supposed to shut down when it reach a certain psi but it was running all the time. I called the help desk they were very helpful and ask me to take it to HD to see if they can fix it. I ordered another one without waiting for them to fix it , I have received it on time again. I tested it and seems working fine. I have used it to pump my tires, seems fine. Hope to use it for more projects in the future. The user manual is inadequate. March 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of Quality I knew better but... only bought this because of the great sale price and warranty. My hunch was right. The unit works well when new but at the 2 year point of very light usage, mainly for the occasional inflating of bike tires or toys, the unit failed. I would recommend spending a few more dollars and getting something from an air compressor manufacturer with a recognized brand name rather than a generic brand that sources these very cheaply made units from various overseas suppliers. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Weak Very weak compression. At max setting it only felt as strong as a can of compressed air. Good maybe for bicycle tires, or sports equipment. But for anything else needed more psi this won't do the job. February 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ideal it's perfectly ideal for a little around the house jobs. February 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Broke it stopped building air pressure after a year. I disassembled and found the piston rod came off the wheel and was not repairable. December 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product doesn't last. Put the compressor in use on Jan 11, 2013 and had to replace it April 26, 2013...just over 3 months use. Used it to blow out paper dust in a small cutting machine. At the most ran it a hour each day m-f, sometimes not. Very light and easy to store seemed to be an ideal little tool for light use for the price. I still have and use an air compressor my father bought in the 1950's so things can be built to last. I retrieved the email to rate this product from my recycle bin so I could make a recommendation to all not to buy this compressor. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great purchase This was the perfect size for what I needed. Glad there was a large selection. November 4, 2014
