Answer:
Yes. Also, a cheaper alternative to roofing nails is to cut cardboard into inch wide strips and staple through the cardboard and into the sheeting. I live in a cold, northern climate and do this every winter. Saves money and effectively reinforces the plastic against tearing in windy conditions.

Answer:
Hello Katie,
A staple gun will do well in temporarily securing the plastic sheeting. If you're in an area with a lot of heavy winds you may also want to consider using roofing nails. These nails have a rubber washer backing them which could help prevent tearing. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied Customer Used this construction film to cover the outside of our chicken run. It needs to be tacked down with strips of wood, if it's going to be windy, because it will tear where the staples/nails are going through it. Once we got the side tacked down that was being torn off by the wind, it has served it's purpose well. The film was delivered to the store for pickup in a timely manner, as well. December 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed. Used this to drape over some PVC to make row covers for some tender garden vegetation. Has worked out very well. I ordered it online and it arrived ahead of schedule. I was promptly notified and when I went to pick it up, they had it conveniently located at a pick up desk. I have to say, Home Depot has their on line ordering system set up very efficiently. March 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I used this Plastic Sheeting to make a Greenhouse With some reinforcement using duct tape and a hole punch, I stitched together a greenhouse for the winter over an existing chain link fence pen with a gate. I found that using plastic covered wiring served well as the 'thread' with an overlap of plastic sheeting amounting to 6 inches. See picture. It's a great way to save money using what you already have. December 10, 2013
