Customer Questions & Answers

What color is the paper side of this drop cloth

Asked by: Hedy

Can this be cut or will the layers seperate?

I was wondering if the layers are bonded or are they two layers just glued at the ends only. Thanks!

The poly drop cloth is okay for some uses, but is very light and is easily shifted when stepped on. I can't recommend this for painting. Use a heavier cloth drop cloth if you're serious painter or worried about protecting covered surfaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and durable Used these to cover the bathtub and floor during a bathroom remodel project and found them to be much easier to use than the polythene sheets I have typically used. I found them easy to stick in place using masking tape and once you're done, just fold them up and throw them away. The sheets have a paper side and a polythene side and I used the paper side up to absorb the paint and other liquids I was using. I had the sheet down for a couple of days on a bare concrete floor and despite dropping drywall primer, interior satin enamel paint, thinset and Redgard on the cloth, it was durable and didn't tear. Since I had the paper side up, the dropcloth absorbed the paint and wasn't slippery underfoot which is always a problem when painting on a polythene drop cloth. The other thing I really liked was the size. Our bathroom is around 11' x 8' and I was able to easily cut the sheet with a pair of scissors so I could mask off the bathtub and the floor using a single sheet draped over the tub side. I took the tank off the toilet and the sheet also draped over the toilet base with ease and didn't have to fight the dropcloth to get it to conform to the shape of the toilet so I could spray paint the wall behind the toilet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very, very handy - and can be reused too! First, I like the fact that you get 2 cloths to a package, especially without breaking the bank. Second, I thought their construction was ideal. The paper having a plastic backing is the best of both worlds - either use alone or on top of other dropcloths, tarps, etc. They're also easy to open up and place down. Maybe due to my short stature but that's always a problem for me. I used paper-side up and didn't slide around on it like other plastic cloths/tarps. And if you take care of them, they can be reused - for painting and other tasks as well like repotting plants in the Spring, cleaning items, etc. Very handy indeed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from much better than a usual drop cloth these two drop cloths are much better than any others i have ever purchased. the cloths are double thickness with a plastic back that allows for extra protection. the backing provides a leak proof barrier. the paper top is very absorbent. this product would be wonderful for painting, wallpaper removal and even just generic cleaning of a room. the size is very generous and could be used in most rooms. most drop cloths are not this well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gardener's Helper! I’m a gardener in an area where temperatures rarely dip below freezing. Many of my plants are “tropicals”, NOT frost-tolerant, and NOT in movable pots to get them out of harm’s way. Plus, not-quite-dormant (early Winter) or newly awakening perennials (late Spring) are especially sensitive. It doesn’t have to be a “hard freeze”; just cold enough for water vapor to condense on plant tissues that have been chilled to 32-degrees F. I don’t have enough sheets and blankets to do the job, and some are too heavy to use because the weight breaks boughs and shoots. These are inexpensive (2-per pack), large-enough to cover many of the plants (individually and en masse), and easy to use. Plastic-side UP keeps rain from ruining the drop-cloths; I let them dry, fold them up, and re-use. Paper-side DOWN keeps plants from touching “plastic” (even worse than no protection, since it can hold moisture against plant tissues and cause more serious freeze damage). The trick is to get the covers on BEFORE the temperature drops (capturing the heat) and get the edges secured (I use bricks). Works for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality and great value I recently used this drop cloth to do some indoor painting, and was very impressed with the quality of the product. I had previously tried a plastic floor protector with a tacky side, and found it very difficult to use. This product is simple, doesn't claim to stick in place, but is actually a step above most drop cloths. Because it has a plastic bottom and cloth top, it protects your floors while also being better at stopping paint runs due to its absorbancy. It's also a bit more comfortable to walk on than plastic. You get two drop cloths in this package, which is a great value, because the truth is they are somewhat reusable. If you've spilled a lot of paint, you'll probably want to throw it out, but otherwise, the drop cloths are substantial enough that you'll probably want to fold them up and use them next time. It really doesn't feel at all like a "disposable" product, despite the very low price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I love this drop cloth. It is actually tough enough to use numerous times. I like the fact that you don't have to worry about the paint seeping through. The paint soaks into the drop cloth and stays there. It is just the right size for most rooms. Most of the time I put this drop cloth ontop of my cloth ones to keep the paint from soaking through.
