I had always bought my Samsung genuine filters at HomeDepot. During a recent trip to HomeDepot to get my semi-annual replacement found they no longer carry the Samsung brand in my local store, instead they had replaced them with their HomeDepot brand "equivalent".
I reluctantly picked up a two-pack, which thankfully was only a few dollars more than a single Samsung filter.
- Comes in a two pack so you have a back-up readily available when the first one has been fully-used
- Does not have the same fit as the Samsung Filter. The HomeDepot filter is not fully secure and protrudes from the filter hole (Samsung fits flush and fills the void so there is no movement), leaving it able to be accidentally bumped or messed with by the kids, it flexes left to right, which can't be good for the connection point in the refridgerator
- DRASTICALLY reduces water flow rate - filling a 16 ounce glass takes about 30 seconds, where previously with the Samsung filter, it would take 10 seconds or less. Its slightly more than a dribble, a far cry from the flow rate I had with the Samsung brand water filter
- Water does not taste as good after being filtered through this water filter.
I would not waste my money on this brand of filter based on my experience, the fit of the filter gives me great concern of possible damage to the $2000 fridge it is used in and the flow rate makes it annoying to use.

I never take time out to review products... Even really bad ones. However, the HDX replacement filters are junk. SLOW flow rate, which also affects the ice maker. Thought we'd try to use something more cost effective rather than using Samsung's OEM filter. That was a bad idea... Used this product for a week until we just got fed up... With this filter we would probably get a dozen ice cubes a day, with a family of five in summer that's a no go. Replaced it with an OEM Samsung filter, all the problems went away.

At about half the price of a Samsung OEM filter, this unit works fine. Be sure to shut off the water supply before removing/replacing fridge water filters. It makes it much easier to remove the old one and install a new one. After installing a new filter, run the water through the filter a sufficient time until it runs strong and clear.

Had to replace our filter for the first time. Name brand was sold out so we decided to go with this brand. Water has a horrible after taste. Going to buy the name brand asap!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by venturec Great price, but water still tastes like plastic from the filter housing
Water still tastes like plastic from the filter housing even though I've now run more than the 4 gallons required to flush the new filter. I shouldn't taste anything but fresh clean water like I did with the Samsung filter, but had to give this a try since the price was so attractive. The filter fits in my Samsung refrigerator just fine, but I can't get the taste of plastic from the filter housing to flush out.

Filter used in Samsung refrigerator. The filters in general are a little difficult to install. Installed with out a hitch. Filter listed on NSF web site which is a plus. Rated for 300 gallons. Good deal overall!

These filters do a great job of making the water where I live taste better. The only real problem I see with them is longevity. I know the manufacturer says replace every 6 months but I'm lucky to get 3 months out of one before it sets off the sensor in the fridge
