Can I get an adapter on which to screw the end of my braided supply line to this filter?

I have tried several "universal" quick connect filters, and PVC supply lines. All of them leak. The end caps can be unscrewed from the HDX version, so I was wondering if I can I get an adapter on which to screw the end of my braided supply line to this filter? The HDX Extended Life version of this filter comes with that exact compression fitting I think I would need. However, I can't fit a giant 3-inch tube between my fridge and the wall, so I need a 2-inch.

They use quarter-inch nuts and Ferelins to secure it

How Do I Connect This "UNIVERSAL" Filter To My Plastic TuBing?

Where Do I Purchase The Quick Connectors?
Asked by: HotSunGod
Be warned it is a universal filter, but not a universal connection. The standard plastic 1/4" tubing will fit, but not be secure(if after inserted, u can pull it back out by hand its not secure). A change in pressure throughout house can cause an unsecure hose to detach and result in a new indoor pool(not good, happened to me). The fittings or "sockets" in the ends of filter must be removed(unscrew with wrench) and replaced with a fitting that is compatible with your specific water inlet source for fridge. In case of 1/4" plastic hose a push to connect socket can be installed on filter or a compression fitting...and dont use thread tape but use the thread seal in tube(not the same thing as plumbers putty) to install new connections in ends of filter. Good Luck!

However since they no longer make this filter, I have been using the HDX with the same results. I would recommend this filter as a fine replacement for the GE filter.

I am glad HD stocks this item, a replacement for the GE "replacement" filter no longer available. This filter has NPT threads and also has the original-type quick-connect fittings attached (easily removed). The price feels a little high, but filter ensures clear, odor-free ice. {run 1-2 gals. water before connecting to fridge} With some practice, the DIY'r can make secure, leak-free connections. I kept the original quick-connect on lower, but utilize 1/4" compression fitting on top. hint> for quick-connect water-tite seals : petroleum-jelly, press-down twice, pull-out tab, rotate, wiggle, pull on filter, watch for 1+ hr. before push-back fridge. note : don't be mislead by the GE filter also offered, it is NOT compatible with old-style quick-connect or NPT fittings. p.s. some lab should test & certify these filters are really working and safe.

The thing is, you have to take their word that water filters do what they claim. But I hopefully do trust Home Depot & their products. I can tell you that the filter itself was full of the charcoal or whatever is in the filter, cause thru the wash out phase, a lot of color stuff came out of the filter. It is in front of a Instant Hot Water machine...

It does not come with the quick connect fittings necessary for installation. The phone number in the product packaging is a dead end number that does nothing. I returned it and ordered the proper filter on line.
