Wheel screw

The phillips screw holding the cutting wheel came out of my cutters rendering it useless. How can I get a replacement screw? There seems to be no actual HDX manufacturer, just a Hope Depot brand.
Asked by: larsnand
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Larsnand. Unfortunately we do not carry a screw to fit this tube cutter online, your local Home Depot store may be able to locate a screw that fits for you. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

The knob that tightens the cutter is very hard to turn once in contact with the pipe - even when tightening in small increments. The knob turned freely when not contact with pipe - no issues with the machining of the clamping threads. The guide wheels were well aligned with the cutting wheel and the cutting wheel did a good job. I was cutting installed pipe that was very close to a joist and would have used a larger cutter with a longer handle if the working space was not so tight. Ultimately, I used some pliers to tighten the knob in small increments and cut through the pipe easily.

I had to pick up some copper pipe when my van was in the shop, and my hatchback was just 4" too short for the 10' pipes I was buying. I picked this up to quickly cut 4" off of the 4 pipes I had, thinking the cheapest model would be OK for 4 quick cuts. How wrong I was. Compared to my Rigid cutter (sadly in the van), this was a nightmare to use. The tension knob was extremely hard to turn - I got a blister from just doing the few cuts I did. What would have taken 30 seconds with a real cutter took 5 minutes with this piece of junk. I was going to donate this to a charity thrift store when I was done with it, but I threw it away - I wouldn't wish that pain and aggravation on anyone else!

Built with huge tolerances, the wheel and wheel holder wobble side to side so much that the cut spirals down the pipe with light or heavy pressure. Save your time & money and buy a better quality piece, this one sucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy a different brand I cant find replacement cutting wheels anywhere. Ive bought 3 different ones with no luck. Its very difficult to twist the knob to put pressure on the pipe without pliers which is hard to do in tight areas

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Tool The cutting wheel was dull and the guide wheels did little to hold the cutter in place. It was useless so I returned it immediately.

I returned this half an hour after I bought it because it was worse than useless. I needed to cut 1/2" PVC pipe. However, the screw on this utter was very difficult to tighten. I got listened on my thumb and finger trying to crank it down enough to make any progress. After spending 20 minutes and only having made one and a half cuts, I gave up and went back to Home Depot to return the thing and get something better. Don't waste your money on this.
