Answer:
Not really. 18 gauge is pretty thin. For a sub floor you should look for something within the 16 gauge line.

Answer:
On the top of the rear of the gun, above the staple shut is a tab. You press the tab down and slide it up. You should be able to load your staples.
Note: This staple gun takes really specific staples. If you just picked up a box of "Narrow Crown Staples", chances are you got the wrong ones.

Would this be appropriate for installing a carpet runner?

Would this be appropriate for installing a carpet runner? Or better to use the fine wire T50 pneumatic nailer? I'd like to install the carpet without tack strips if possible, to minimize damage to the underlying hardwood.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little stapler This stapler has performed well so far. I haven't had any problems with jamming or misfires. It's an inexpensive brand so time will tell how well it holds up but my initial impressions are very positive. April 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy to have We're getting ready to trim an addition. The more we can do ourselves the more we can save. I'm counting on this unit to help our work faster & easier with a more professional look. So far it works great! November 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Tool for specific tasks, but nothing great. I own numerous pneumatic nail guns which I use on a regular basis. I've always wanted a narrow crown stapler for simplifying things a pneumatic stapler could do better. This pneumatic stapler is really nothing more than the pneumatic guns I already have. It works just like the others, just shoots different fasteners, so there's really nothing that sets this tool apart from the rest...Load staples, few drops of oil in the gun, and use. A few things I don't like about this tool, and this may be an inherent design with pneumatic staplers, I don't know because I've not owned one previously. The first thing I noticed is there is no quick lever release on the front of the stapler to open up the front to clear any jams. It appears you have to remove 2 Allen bolts to open up the front. That's going to be a pain. The second thing I noticed is there doesn't appear to be any way of adjusting the depth of the fastener. There is no depth adjusting knob. Not sure if this will be a negative in fastening up projects, as different woods have different densities, therefore drive fasteners differently. If these 2 things are inherent in all pneumatic staplers then overall it's a good gun. If most other staplers have both of these features, then I would certainly look at another brand, as these 2 omissions would be a definite deal breaker for me. December 2, 2013
