Any brand of nails or staples designed to work in a nail gun should work. I have used several brands without noticing any difference. Just don't mix up the 16 and 18 gauge nails they look pretty much the same but will not fire or jam if you use them in the wrong nail gun.

If you are just doing an occasional project you can use a smaller compressor, the challenge is every time you pull the trigger and it shoots a nail it uses some of the air, so if you are doing a large project or shooting frequent nails, hey smaller compressor will need to continuously run to maintain sufficient pressure.
Basically you need some sort of five or 6 pound air compressor. And they should work great Read Less

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A little disappointed... I was excited to see such a great deal on this bundle of nailers, but as I used them 2) of the 4) nail guns jammed within the 1st day of using them. The large finish nailer I never used yet, but if I did would it jam? Very diasappointing.... October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HDR pneumatic finishing kit Bought this set online, which went on sale the day afterward. I was reimbursed to the sale price. Guns work as well as a much higher priced product. I am doing upgrades on my home and these guns have made a huge difference. Wish I had bought them sooner. There is no problem finding brads or staples all standard gauge sizes fit. Haven't had but 2 misfires. Could have been too much air pressure but I was learning at the time August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value! I could have either rented one for I think it was $30/day, or buy 4 for $100 and do the project at my leisure. I have only had a few jams; quick and easy to rectify. Highly recommend for light home use (I don't know if I would use these as a contractor). August 16, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase/Awesome Value I picked up the e nail guns and the stapler one day, took them home and put a couple drops of oil in each one as recommended and waited one day. Plugged them in next day and one spice rack, one slat topped plant table and a couple of other projects in the works, these things work GREAT!!!! I switch back and forth from one to the other and NO problems, NO issues, and so far (knock on wood) NO misfires. These things are awesome and the sale value was tremendous. THANK YOU HOME DEPOT!!!!! Bob Rice U-Design Woodworking January 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage! Short Life! They Don't Last. I bought this set to replace a finishing nail that failed after 15 years. This set the finishing nailer didn't even make it though the box of nails that came with the guns. After taking the gun nose apart to get a jammed nail out I discovered why they won't last. The driving pin doesn't appear to be hardened steel. Just look at the attached picture. I returned to HomeDepot and bought the Ridgid finishing nailer, a much better product that is designed to last! My advise is don't waste your money on this set. They won't last. January 11, 2015
