Tapered Faucet Seat Wrench is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good for a seat that is not corroded. Very... Really good for a seat that is not corroded. Very easy to use. If the seat is corroded my suggestion is then to use WD-40 (around the holding of the seat), a heat gun/ or blow dryer to expand the outside metal, and a large flat head screw driver to grip the inside of the seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong I don't see any reason to buy a more expensive brand. This does the job just the way it should at half the cost. Highly recommended this HDX product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fails on so many levels. Fails on so many levels. I will be promptly returning this item. Because of it's tapered nature, it can only grab the front inside corners of the valve seat. It does not grip the square corners all the way to the rear of the valve seat. This is a recipe for stripping the contact points out. And when you're removing decades old valve seats, you're in trouble. What should have been a 30 mins job, turned into a plumbers nightmare. Had to smash the valve seat off and re-tap the threads. (5/8" - 18tpi is not a common tap in smaller kits!) When installing a new valve seat, you won't have problems with stripping the corners out, but if you press hard enough to get good contact with the inside corners, the wider part of the tapered tool would nick the valve seat face itself! I had to use a file to fix my new valve seats! I ended up getting the 6 stepped valve seat tool from a competitor. Just realized that you can also get an HDX version here on the Home Depot site too. There may very well be a reason to get a the tapered tool, but for me, the 6 stepped one will remain in my tool box. 6-Step Faucet Seat Wrench http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-6-Step-Faucet-Seat-Wrench-HDX157/204218633
