Product Overview

HOME-FLEX Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing or CSST is great for installation of gas appliances. CSST easily snakes into attic and basements areas, around corners and bends, and through walls. Much easier to work than steel pipe, uses fewer fittings, and weighs a lot less too. Certification through manufacturer is recommended before installing CSST.

  • Bends around corners eliminating need for additional joints and fittings
  • Use coordinating CSST fittings
  • Great for seismic areas - ridged pipe often leaks after even small tremors
  • CSA and IAPMO certified
  • Installers should be certified to install HOME-FLEX CSST, to become certified visit homeflex.com

Customer Questions & Answers

Would I need 3/4 or 1/2 inch CSST CORRUGATED STAINLESS STEEL TUBINing to run 1 gas stove?

HOME-FLEX 3/4 in. x 75 ft. CSST Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing
Asked by: Rodney
1/2" should be plenty, unless you are running over 100ft a gas line. The connectors at the stove are probably 1/2" anyways, and a lot of people use 3/8" hose to connect from the shut off valve to the stove anyways. I originally had about 15ft of 3/8" copper hose running directly to the outside tanks. and it worked just fine.

Can I use this to run from 1/2" black pipe to my 42,000 BTU shop furnace?
Asked by: Duke
If ½" is what you had before then yes. But why not use the ½" tubing then?

Can this tubing be buried?

Asked by: Safetyboss
Yes, You can bury CSST tubing in plastic electrical conduit, unless prohibited by local city building codes. If you're connecting more then one section like I did you'll have to use a union. You'll need to use 1 1/4 diameter conduit to allow for the union. Other wise 1 inch diameter conduit will work.

Can this be used for oxygen?

Asked by: Josh
I asked Google your question. The results were interesting to say the least. The general consensus is ccst is not safe for oxygen due to leaks at the fittings.

If you have an issue with leaks after installing this product it is more than likely becasue you did not follow the instructions and that is no fault of the manufacturer. On every fitting that you purchase there is a sticker that reminds you to follow the instructions and those instructions are included with every fitting! Not to mention several online videos and a free istruction booklet right next to all the products! I installed 25 feet to feed a gas dryer and it was 100% leak free the first time (pressure tested for 24 hours to verify). I have no issues with this product and if your looking for CSST that works then look no further.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is junk don't buy This is one of the worst products to carry gas I've ever seen. I am a Master Plumber of 30 plus years and one of my top mechanics agree, buy any product other then this. A builder bought this junk to save us the leg work for the material for the job.. Between a cheap fiber washer and even cheaper retainer ring this is a disaster waiting to happen. I would have never wasted my time to write a review if I thought this product had any bit of quality.

Used this product for the first time to run a gas line for a new dryer location and was completely disappointed! Followed the directions via connections and torque specs. and both ends of the pipe, connections, leaked. Then followed the directions on how to stop or correct leaks and that didn't work either. Wasted my money, and potentially endangered my family if I would not have noticed the leaks.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE!! This is a TERRIBLE product. Almost half of my joints leaked. Do yourself a favor. Take the training for tracpipe or wardflex or any other csst pipe other than homeflex. The lead ring seal in the fittings is a horrible design flaw. Not nearly as effective as a flared joint made in other csst pipe. Never again for me.

I don't know whats up with all the 1 star reviews but this product has worked like a charm and zero leaks. Seems to me like more of an installer error than a product issue. My son had his propane provider come out to fill their tank and in the process discovered that they had a leak. The just bought the house and the previous owner ran copper lines all over the house with around 10-15 fittings, it was an absolute mess. We fixed a couple of the problem spots and the propane company came back out and said you still have leaks, thats when we decided to just run all new lines because of all the fittings. We bought 2 75' rolls and 8 Fittings. We were able to have a home run to the stove and then a line to feed the 2 furnaces. This saved us so much time and we ended up with a better setup than what the previous owner had done with the copper. We ran into zero issues while installing this as the instructions were straight forward. I have a feeling most of the leaks these people are talking about is they are not making clean cuts and then applying the appropriate amount of torque on the fittings, which is in the instructions. The propane company came back out after we finished the install and pressure tested the system and said we had good pressure and zero leaks, so I'd say the product works like it's supposed to if you follow instructions. My son even called the company while in Home Depot because he had a question in regards to the product and the answered is call very quickly and provided him answers to his questions. I've used this also at my in-laws when we swapped out their old electric stove top to a gas one and once again, no leaks, and this was the first time using it so I was skeptical on the product but I will definitely use it for any future projects I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and system First you MUST read the online instructions they cover sizing, assembly, routing, securing and bonding. Plus the manufacturer has videos. Very easy to install. After the local Gas company found 23 leaks in the old black pipe system, I redid everything in Home-Flex except the fist 20 ft from the gas meter which I re-doped and re-assembled the original black pipe. As for leaks absolutely none in the Home-Flex - tested at 10 psi for 1 hr with compressed air. Just passed final inspection from the Gas company, purged lines - no leaks - gas is back on. Let me clear up a couple of incorrect reviews - the black O-ring does not seal the fitting - it is there to keep gunk from getting under the jacket - see instructions for using tape if you lose the o-ring. Also replacement brass retainer ring, o-rings and fitting non-metallic gasket are available at HD both online and at stores that carry Home-Flex. A tip that may help you make a leak free connection the first time - I took a metal file to each cut end, removed any burs or uneven cuts before assembly - if you look at the instructions burs are a common reason for a leaky connection. Finally the 1 inch by 3/4 inch manifold in my photo is only available by special order from HD - you won't find it at the stores or on the web site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Installed a new gas stove and needed to run a gas line from my garage through the attic and into the kitchen. This tubing made the job so much easier than it would have been had I used black pipe. No joints were required. I simply connected the tubing to my gas supply in the garage and went through the attic and down through the wall to the new gas stove. I attached a shut-off valve at that point, and then connected the gas to my new stove. Piece of cake! I highly recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY! JUNK! This stuff is absolutely terrible, and if you read past the 5 star ratings Home Depot pays people to write, you will see why. The leaks are uncontrollable. This product is completely different from other CSST type tubings, so don't let it steer you away from CSST. The sealing methods used in this product are preposterous and they will not hold. So many other people have said the same thing. The installer/repairer from the gas company (with 25+ years experience) said the same thing, and even he could not get the leaks to stop after recutting and attempting with brand new fittings. I will pull all of this out and demand my money back, and if they refuse, I don't think I will shop at Home Depot anymore. They should not offer this product anymore based on mine and everyone else's experience. It's total junk! Don't buy it!
