I started to use the base and it seemed as if the levers did not work well at all. As I was using it with the weight of my machin one of the springs for one of the front levers popped out. There was nothing in the instructions how to fix it. Then the other popped out as well. I tried to fix them but could not. I decided I did not like how the base functioned and will trash it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Tool Stand This tool stand is really convenient for moving heavy tools around the garage or shop. I've got my 100 lb planer on it right now, and I can move easily it without any hassle. I plan on building a custom cabinet to hold the planer infeed/outfeed at the same height as my table saw so I can get some extra support when I'm planing long boards. The non-swiveling casters lock down very well, and the floor locks (which aren't supposed to be used as leg levelers - more on that later) for the swivel casters work well when they're adjusted correctly. There were few improvements which could have been made to the design, but for the most part it's a solid buy. Additional assembly tips: - The instructions were decent, but a few key pointers could have made the whole process a lot easier. - The leaf spring brakes on the non-swiveling casters should be inserted with the single rib facing down toward the wheel. Otherwise it won't lock the wheel down when the brake is engaged. The instructions are for an older model that had different brakes. - Plan out where you'll place the bolts before you start throwing the whole thing together. Keep in mind that there are several bolt holes that can't be used, including the ones centered over the fixed caster axles and two at the other side where you'll mount the floor locks. Room for improvement: - The floor locks which look like they're leg levelers are made of high density plastic. I sincerely doubt they can bear a full 700 lb loading but I don't plan on using my tool stand for anything that heavy. The assembly instructions specifically state, "Adjust the leveler so that it engages the floor, (without lifting the machine completely off the floor) when in the lock position." So they're not levelers, which I was disappointed to discover. They're only to be used as brakes. - The floor lock design has rivets that are the same for both sides (there are no left and right side parts - they're the same), and they make one side sit at a very slightly cockeyed angle because they aren't perfectly flush. - The adjustable sides should have been made out of angle iron instead of flat bars. One of them was slightly bent when I unpacked it, and I gently tried to bend it back straight but ended up REALLY bending it because it was much more ductile than I initially guessed. The stand also flexes fairly easily when assembled if I grab two sides and pull together. Angle iron would have taken care of this. I suppose it will get better with a tool or cabinet mounted solidly to it, but I thought the stand itself should have that rigidity. - One of the fixed caster axle mounts didn't quite fit, and I had to whack it with a hammer several times to get it to fit. It almost didn't work - I was about to reach for my rotary tool! That being said, I'm still happy with the stand. It's sturdy enough and gets the job done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Assembled easily The mobile bases assembled easily. I spoke to the HTC factory, and they told me that two additional floor lock assemblies can be added to allow the base to rest on 4 rubber feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need shop mobility? Look no further! This HTC 3000 HD Universal Mobile Base is the perfect solution to those with a smaller workshop, like myself. But, it would be very fitting as well in a larger workspace as well. It would allow you to shuffle your tools around to better adapt to your needs as well as allow you some ease when it came to clean up. In my own situation I have a full size furniture and cabinet making shop in my one car garage. This can prove to be a little difficult at time because the larger tools, when not in use, need to be parked against the walls allowing space down the center for fabrication. Prior to these mobile bases I would either use my furniture dolly, dangerously tilting and lifting these heavy tools up on or I would rock them back in forth to move them to my desires location. All this was very tedious! Also in the summer to help alleviate some of my cramped quarters I put up a 10' x 10' canopy shelter in my drive to work under. Now I have no problems staging my tools exactly where I need them with this mobile base. I was so impressed upon receiving this and placing my bandsaw up on it that I ordered 2 more immediately for my jointer and drill press. The first one arrived with one of the wheel lock pedals missing but I contacted the company directly and they had a replacement shipped to me next day. Talk about excellent customer service! The other two arrived with all parts intact so it was probably just a fluke with the first one. These mobile bases are heavy duty! They are completely customizable to your tools footprint and the wheel placement can be whatever configuration you choose. The wheels are heavy duty as well. It comes with plenty of nuts and bolts, 4 longer bars with slightly slotted adjustable holes, and 4 shorter bars with fixed size holes to adapt it to almost anything within the maximum parameters. With four different locking mechanisms, 2 wheel locks and 2 drop feet locks, once your tool is in place lock them down and your tools are solid and stable! In each corner piece there is a hole in the base plate allowing you to bolt your tool to the base for even more stability. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this system. I highly recommend them to anyone; particularly those in a similar situation as me. The price does appear a little steep but in the long run (saving my sanity, back, tool abrasion, time, and safety) I know they will payoff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The clear winner in the mobile base market this is one of those reviews that is common sense. If you need a heavy duty mobile base, this is really the only one to buy. It's very adjustable (square or rectangular), easy to level, and effortlessly moves heavy tools. One of the largest advantages is you can assemble it around the tool if you are adding after the fact. I have it on my 14" bandsaw which isn't all that heavy (~230lbs) but is tall and awkward. I can roll this around with ease. When locked, the tool is as sturdy as it is on the floor. One other thing I really like is it doesn't raise the height of the tool as much as other mobile bases. This is important to me as I am not a very tall guy and raising the height of stationary tools can pose a safety issue. As I said, I don't know why anyone would buy any other type of mobile base, but rest assured HTC is by far the best and should be your only option.
