Customer Questions & Answers

What kind of plastic and how thick is it?

Asked by: BwanaD
Plastic bags are primarily made from Polyethylene , probably Low density grade There are 3 nominal grades, Low density, Medium density, and Hi density 3 MIL (meaning .003" thick) ( 3 thousandths of an inch ) or ( .0762 mm ) Bags are made on a Blown film extrusion line, of which use Pure/virgin polyethylene (no recycle material what so ever) Clear bags offered are only .001" thick, and I believe as thin as practical for general usage .

cubic yard

how many bags when full = 1 cubic yard
Asked by: april
It is a unit of linear measurement that is multiplied by itself twice to show volume. One yard is 3 feet so it is 3 ft times 3 ft times 3 ft which is 27 cf.

We have used these for very heavy construction debris, but we also use them for consolidation of household garbage. Most people would think these are overkill for household garbage, but it only takes ONE spilled bag with rotten garbage or cat litter in it to convince you otherwise. We don't have to worry about the occasional heavier construction debris. We haul our own garbage to the landfill, so we accumulate as many as 2 dozen bags in the basement (after rolling them down the stairs!) and we have rarely had any issues with smell or insects. And, of course, loading them into the trailer is heavy abuse as well. Expensive, but well worth the insurance.

I purchased the 50 Count Husky Brand contractor bags from Home Depot in Lancaster Pa. I just got into my second roll and EVERY BAG is NOT SEALED on the bottom. I realized this after filling one of the bags with saw dust. I pulled the bag out of the trash can and all of the sawdust dropped onto my customers floor. I then went through every remaining bag to find they all are not sealed on the bottom. This was an embarrassment for my business to have them fail at the customers home. Never buying these again.

Even though liquid should not be put in the garbage, most times it does. Which settles to the bottom and bag leaks when being transported. Yes, we can use a double bag, but that would be a waste. The bags did not use to do that. I was told that contractor bags were the best for anything which I still believe. I just think the seams cause the leakage... Trying to catch the liquid, but sometimes it is hard.

I use these when cleaning out my rental properties(I have 14) after a tenant leaves. I've dealt with tenants that leave the place clean and spotless and some that leave EVERYTHING including furniture and a fridge full of food and everything in between. These can handle nearly all household junk/objects that you can think of. You need to use common sense and not put sharp or pointed objects for your and the garbage collector's safety. I have put things like broken ceramics and forks into these and it will handle them. As far as weight, I've gotten these pretty full of heavy stuff(books, full containers of liquid, wood, window blinds) and they've never broken. The only limit is what I can comfortably lift and what the waste collector's guidelines are in terms of bag weight. If you've got some heavy duty cleaning to do, these are a must have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big and tough I like to keep two large garbage containers in the garage so that I can take the white kitchen bag out and toss it into the garage. These are the only bags large enough to line a typical large garbage can. The night before garbage pickup, I just remove these bags, tie them and place them at the curb. In over 10 years, I have never had one of these bags break on me. They are super tough!

They are thick and so don't get holes in them when pulling across the driveway. You can really fill them. After Hurricane Ike I used 144 bags to clean up all the branches and other debris that came into our yard, Also had The big branches i cut down to 4' for the garbage truck. Really great for cleanup, landscaping trimmings and weeds.

They are large enough to cover the entire seat, heavy enough to not tear or blow away. One bag was all I needed and this box of bags was much cheaper than a waterproof seat cover for a Harley.. I also have 49 really heavy duty trash bags for an upcoming construction project.
