will this unit work in a van with a inverter?

Asked by: Anonymous
I couldn't answer this question; but my husband said that the inverter would have to have a "high enough amperage to carry the load." Sorry wish I could be better help!

how big does my window have to be for it to fit? i have very small windows

I'm not sure of the minimum space, but you can easily cut a board to adapt to whatever window size you have.

How come both of the units I bought doesn't cool the room beyond 85 Degrees?

I've cleaned the dust off the coils and removed the water and the air conditioner doesn't cool the room, the temperature is set at 70 degrees to cool the room but the thermometer on the unit doesn't go below 80-85. This is my units second year.

Will this work with sliding glass doors to a patio?

I only have have sliding glass doors - the window is inaccessible... Can this be rigged to work with the sliding doors for exhaust?
Asked by: versidale
The window plate with the opening for air exhaust is 19 ¾ “by 4 ¾ “, this cannot be modified. Also included with the unit is a solid extension plate that is also 19 ¾ “by 4 ¾” which can be trimmed. The plates can be combined to cover an opening 39 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches. These plates can be installed horizontally or vertically. Compare these dimensions to the window opening where you are planning on using the air conditioner. Additional Solid Extension Plates can be combined to extend to fill the window gap. Haier Portable air conditioners can be used with Casement windows. When installing the window exhaust vent kit be sure that there is no air leak which would allow hot air back into the room. These are available from Encompassparts.com. (800) 432-8542. Please review the video on the link below for additional installation information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS7Y4mu_qBs

Can this be used on an outlet that is on a 15 amp Afci breaker?

Asked by: Hazy7
I used it in a regular wall socket in my house that was still running on a fuse box and never blew a fuse. I'm not sure what an Afci breaker is, but I had no problem the old fashioned way. I've since been blessed with breakers.

10,000 BTU 350 sq. ft. Cool Only Portable Air Conditioner with 80 Pint/Day Dehumidification Mode and LCD Remote Control is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 584.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thumbs up Only negative was there was a crack on one of the plastic sleeves. HD support couldn't send a replacement part and said I had to return the entire product back. After which I had already lugged it up a flight a stairs. Lucky enough the hose still fit and stayed in place so I declined to return it. Overall the product works. I've used it couple times lately when it was hot at night to sleep better. Bit loud but what AC isn't, can't complain when I can easily set it to auto shut off after 'x' amount of hours. Very convenient. Blue light can be annoying to some people, I just stuck a post-it note over it after setting the timer before going to sleep.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job I got this unit for a 12 x 12 bedroom with a bit of a vaulted ceiling and it's doing a good job. I really LOVE that I'm not having to empty a pan of water - the unit is evaporating it as advertised. We are using it every day. I also really love the timer...so we can have the unit come on an hour before we get home from school/work. I haven't changed the filter yet but instructions look pretty straight forward. I have seen similar products in classrooms at a school I work at, and I like how this one has a longer hose than others. Our window is a side-opening tall window and the panel for the hose is long enough and fits well. As far as noise...yes, it makes noise. All air conditioners make noise. This unit isn't quiet, but I can't say it is noisier than any other units I've seen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice portable AC Unit keeps us cool in the south Florida heat. I rent a small home in south Florida. It has central air, but the unit is ancient and the landlord isn't going to replace it until it dies. I bought this unit because it can keep one room nice and cool and it's easy to move around the house. At night it cools the bedroom and on days off we put it in the living room. The only down side is that it is a bit loud when it's set on high, so we have to turn the TV up a bit. We are fortunate that all of our windows are the same size, so we only had to fit the exhaust hose once and it works all around our house. This unit is much easier to move around the house than a traditional window unit. It's great value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product & Value I have owned other portable air conditioners in the past. I love the fact that this one is self contained which means no buckets of water to empty. The sound is not loud - it's very compatible with any other that I've heard. I have one in each bedroom. Turn it on, close the door, and the room is at the temperature that I selected within 10 minutes. I love that I don't loose the ability to still open the window and enjoy the fresh air when I want that instead. It's perfect. When I'm not using the unit, I simply detach the hose and roll the unit into the closet. Has made my life so much easier. Excellent product, excellent value for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great way to deal with a hot day We don't get many really hot days, but when it gets hot our master bedroom can be unbearable. This unit was easy to set up and did a good job cooling down the room ... and was quiet enough that we could leave it on overnight. Fan mode is quiet, cooling mode is louder ... but it didn't scare the cats and my wife could sleep through it ... so it wasn't too bad. One thing to consider is where you will be placing the unit. It's a substantial unit (but looks nice) and needs power and a window. Ours is partially blocking a closet, but it's well worth the cooling and it won't be there continuously

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far! My condo only has A/C from June to September, so needed something during the late spring and early fall. I bought a 10,000 BTU unit for my 216 sf bedroom and a 12,000 BTU unit for my 576 sf living/dining room/kitchen. Both are vented out sliding glass doors, so I had to rig them a bit to make it work. But they both easily cool off the spaces they are in to 68 degrees, and quickly. Wish they were a bit quieter, but in reality they are quieter and cool much more efficiently than my buildings A/C. You have to vent them for these to work as the motor creates a fair amount of heat/exhaust. I've only had them for a few weeks, so hoping they hold up for the long term. They are a bit heavy and even with wheels are a bit difficult to move around on carpet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps me cool! Nice looking piece of equipment. No, it wont get as cold as a window unit. Hose connection/vent is through the window and is awkward but when it is hot and you need to sleep, you can deal with it. I haven't had to drain the system yet, it somehow is not required. I am not in a high humidity place so that might be an issue if you live in such an area. It has three modes, fan, dehumidifier and a/c plus 3 fan speeds and a remote control, wish the buttons were back lit though. This model does not have a heater function. Of all the units I looked at, this one is on the 'quiet' side...well, not really, not like a window unit but its not unbearable. I work nights and sleep days. I set it to come on at 10 or 11 am so I am already sleeping and it does not wake me up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Know the difference. Please know that a 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner does not produce the same cooling that a window version with the same BTUs. I had to return this because it only cooled my room to 80 degrees when it was 90 or more outside. I need to purchase a 12,000 BTU. It did install easily and controlled the humidity very well. I did mention that I was replacing a 10,000 BTU window air conditioner to the person I placed the order with. They also did not know that I would need a larger BTU unit.
