Customer Questions & Answers

Is the air vent only connected to the left side. When closed is not level.

The air vent is only connected to the left side. Is this correct or is the unit I purchased missing the right side connector. I went on line to see if there is a diagram but could not find one. Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
This unit has two vents out the back of the unit. They vent to the window in line with each other.

How does it vent. Does it need to have a hose stuck out of a window.

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes hoses are lined up together very easy to install.

When in what application (cooling, dehumidifier, fan or heat) does the inlet hose be used?

This is not explained in the manual.
Asked by: bluenoser4
if you do not hook up inlet hose to outside you are sucking outside air in from every leak in your house, reducing the ability to cool. The idea being to keep the positive pressure inside compared to the outside pressure reducing the amount of air requiring cooling. this also helps keep the humidity down in the house.

How long are the hoses for the venting?

I believe they are five feet.

14,000 BTU 600 sq. ft. Cool Only Portable Air Conditioner, 110-Pints per Day Moisture Removal in Dehumidification Mode is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 78.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from vents do not stay in window Bought this in July as our ac unit went out. Read the reviews but the pros out weighed the cons. Considering we had 20+ 100 degree days it kept it comfortable in the living room. With that being said, these last few weeks have been a disaster. The vents do not fit into the holes nor once you manage to get them in do they stay. Thank the Lord for duct tape!! That solution has been short lived, nothing like coming home from work or getting up in the morning only to find that the vents have fallen out, blowing hot air in the room and the window is open to whatever insect decides to come in. If this problem can be solved, I would have no problem recommending this product.

Works well as ancillary cooling in a small kitchen area with a lot of excess heat generated by refrigeration units, stove etc. easily vented into cavity above suspended ceiling. Easy to install and easy to maintain. Throws off a lot of cool air and quality appears to be excellent.

Spent a lot of money for a substandard unit, does not cool well, exhaust venting hose too short and murder to find a replacement, had to order online, the apparatus that connects the venting to the unit WILL NOT stay in place -- I wish I could say it was better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second one, first was 10K, and we LOVE this model We had a 10K before and it lasted for many years. We made the MISTAKE of getting an LG and it was SO LOUD. Thankfully it died in a few weeks and HD refunded it. We bought this monster and LOVE IT! It is SOOOO quiet. Heavy, yes, but really quiet. The brackets for the two hoses that fit the window plate were not perfect, so I placed four large head screws around each one to hold them in. Other than that, great stuff. Did I mention it is quiet? This unit is very heavy, so be prepared to have help to get it up stairs. As with all refrig stuff, let it sit for at least 8 hours to let the oil in the compressor settle before turning it on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great alternative if you have no option for a window unit. I bought new windows & they weren't strong enough to hold a 12,000 btu window unit. Nor did I want my new windows scratched. This unit works great for cooling a room or 2. It's not as good as my window unit, but it's great if you just want a cold room to escape to on a scorching day. I found it no louder than a window unit, if anything, it's slightly quieter. And since it wheels around, you don't need help installing it, which was a plus for me. The older I get, the harder it is to lift a 90lb ac in & out of a 2nd floor window. This solves that problem. I'd buy the most powerful one you can afford though since they're not nearly as efficient as a window unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One out of Three not Functional My rating is for one out of the three Haier A/C units. Two out of three were fine and are working well. One leaked immediately. There were two square holes in the bottom of the unit through which poured water onto the floor--see attached photos. Then I noticed that the power cord was not working properly. It had a short in it and I cannot get the unit to function at all. The other two units did not have these problems. I contacted Haier and sent them all of my information and pictures. It has been one week and I have not heard back from them. I am very disappointed. This unit was clearly defective before it was shipped. Their QC program should have caught it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is easy to install I read all the reviews decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did. House is 1400 sq ft. a great room and 3 bedrooms. It keeps the house cool, 2 of the bedrooms have their own air conditioners, although I leave the master bedroom open at night and do not need to run the one in that room. I couldn't be happier coming home to a cool house and my dogs aren't dying from heat when we are gone. We can even cook dinner something we couldn't do before the air conditioner arrived. It really is nice, works great has been running all the time with no problems very worthwhile purchase, especially since we now have hot summers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaked all over carpet I ordered this because my neighbor bought one. Hers leaked all over her carpet, twice! The instructions did not warn that you have to buy a small hose and bucket into which to drain the copius amounts of water that come out of the machine daily. It blew really nice cold air, however. I returned mine without opening it as I did not want the water feature in my living room. My issue is with the instructions not warning customers about the water. Also,Home Depot only gives you 30 days to evaluate/return this item.
