I believe the hose ours came with is about 6-8 feet long. I had to coil it up a little because I did not wish to cut it down. You could easily replace it with 8-9mm OD/ 6-7mm ID clear poly hose of a length up to 14 feet which is the vertical distance maximum the pump will function normally at. Simply remove the connector from the hose and insert it into a new length of hose or buy a short length of Read More

The two things I know that could affect the dehumidifier restarting are not getting the bucket firmly back in position or the bucket full lever is stuck in the up position. The bucket full lever is the square float device attached to the upper portion of the bucket. It should move down slightly when the bucket has been emptied.

The bucket full lever is the square float device attached to the upper portion of the bucket. It should move down slightly when the bucket has been emptied.
If neither of those fixes solves your problem you may have a more severe issue that would require sending the dehumidifier to the manufacturer or taking it to a local repair person. Read Less

Depending on the degree of dampness and it's source the unit can easily handle the area. With a dirt floor you'll want to put a 4x4 pad of patio blocks down and level them so the unit has a stable platform to rest on. 2 Caviats ..if you get standing water in this space you need to look at other options first to prevent that and if you have regular 40deg F or freezing temps in your area they will prevent the unit from working properly in an unheated crawl space above the frost line. Most basements are 5-8 feet below ground level with 1-3 feet of foundation above ground. That puts them below the frost line and prevents shifting due to frost heaves but also means the temps in many basements stay above freezing even without heat in them. In Canada and Alaska where temps can get significantly lower for 6 months of the year the unit would not work properly for those colder periods and freezing temps could cause damage to the pump if it stayed active while the hose was frozen. Answer:
I would not recommend using the dehumidifier in a crawl space. The area you are describing is usually vented to the outside which would be inappropriate for a dehumidifier.
The dehumidifier would handle an enclosed area of 1,000 square feet.

Answer:
It will lower the humidity to whatever you specify which may be as low as 30%. However, it will also give off some heat. Your air conditioner is probably better at cooling than lowering humidity so it may work better. Your electricity bill should remain about the same.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 81 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent product I've only owned this dehumidifier a short while now but so far it performs well. The previous model we used did not have a pump so emptying the reservoir was tedious and sporadic after a while. The pump on this one is super easy to set up and works over a decent distance / height. If you have a year round dampness issue in a basement area up to 1000 sq feet it seems to do the job well. If you have standing water issues you need a different solution. As for recommendations I can't give one for a product owned less than 1 year under operating conditions..that recommendation would be unsubstantiated empirically. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Blows a lot of hot air Did its job as a dehumidifier but blew a lot of hot air out. We do not have ac so I don't know if that has anything to do with the way it works. And not having ac made it where we could not keep it because of the heat output. June 21, 2016

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worked nicely for about a month, then both machines started smelling like burnt wax good machine but the defects is causing me to return it June 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Dehumifier Dollar for Dollar Having owned many dehumidifiers, this is the best one. Within one hour, noticeable improvement to basement humidity was observed. May 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not honor warranty Worked fine for about 10 months then quit. I called Haier innumerable times and they always apologized for the delay in honoring the warranty. At times they said a certificate to obtain a new unit was in the mail. Needless to say it never arrived. AVOID Haier products completely!!!!! May 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy at first.... This humidifier is not very loud the fan blows very strong and the built-in pump is great. What I don't like about this Machine is that the fan does not cycle with the compressor so it just runs 24 seven which is annoying... listening to a fan constantly is not ideal. I much preferred my old Kenmore which the fan cycled on and off with the compressor. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dehumidifier Was very happy on how quiet this machine runs. Easy to use. May 3, 2016
