Answer:
You can still use a dehumidifier without a basement. What unit does not matter too much although a larger capacity unit would be a good idea if you are going to empty the bucket rather than running the water into a drain. As central a location as possible in your home would be ideal in placing your dehumidifier. You certainly need at least one.

A side comment - if you are running your air conditioning round the clock and keeping your home closed up I would expect the humidity to be at least ten or twenty percent lower. It would be a good idea to try to identify places that need to be sealed better such as around windows, outlets, doors, etc. Read Less

Does anyone know approximately how much this costs to run per month if the fan is always running? Its Energy star rated but im a little nervous about how long it will last and how much it will cost if the fan is never turning off. (I know electricity differs everywhere and at diff times of the day- im just asking generally if its costing people a ton or they didnt see much of a difference in energy consumption)

This product uses 667 watts of power at approximately 50% relative humidity without knowing the size of the room and expected humidity levels the value cannot be provided.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 85 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent product I've only owned this dehumidifier a short while now but so far it performs well. The previous model we used did not have a pump so emptying the reservoir was tedious and sporadic after a while. The pump on this one is super easy to set up and works over a decent distance / height. If you have a year round dampness issue in a basement area up to 1000 sq feet it seems to do the job well. If you have standing water issues you need a different solution. As for recommendations I can't give one for a product owned less than 1 year under operating conditions..that recommendation would be unsubstantiated empirically. June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sounds like it's going to fall apart When the compressor is running the unit vibrates so much and is so loud that you cannot have a conversation near it August 4, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Works great and it's so nice not to have to remember to empty a catch basin! July 31, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Blows a lot of hot air Did its job as a dehumidifier but blew a lot of hot air out. We do not have ac so I don't know if that has anything to do with the way it works. And not having ac made it where we could not keep it because of the heat output. June 21, 2016
