Answer:
It will lower the humidity to whatever you specify which may be as low as 30%. However, it will also give off some heat. Your air conditioner is probably better at cooling than lowering humidity so it may work better. Your electricity bill should remain about the same.

when i have the auto pump hose inserted and unit running, why does water drip slowly out the hose, but the drain bucket still fills up?

this is my third hm70ep unit in the past 2 weeks. im having the same pump issue. the water just isn't pumping out the supplied pump hose feature spot, its more of a drip drip drip drip, drip. this to me is NOT a pump at all. the drain bucket still fills up all the while still dripping out the supplied pump hose while attached. now when the supplied pump feature hose IS installed, or when you have the garden hose attached (not at same time#, there is NO moisture in the garden hose part either #black rubber plug is removed and stuck my finger into hole).

for those who have a working unit, can I pick your brain?

when the auto pump hose is inserted, how is the water discharge rate? drip, drip drip, pumping out like a garden hose with water turned on, ect? please enlighten me, as I may have expected more out of this unit that its capable of producing.

thank you for all the help everyone, im pulling my hair out with this dehumidifier.

Be sure only one of the connections is being used not both. With that being stated the unit does not act like a sump pump only coming on once the drain reservior is fully. Verify the unit is insatlled on a level surface to promote proper drainage. Initially, you are not only dehumidifying the moisture in the air but what is in floor, walls, ceiling, plus the materials in the room. Once the humidity in the air decreases to a certain level the moisture in the floor, walls, ceiling, and materials in the room will start to release their moisture into the air and dry out. Once all of this is done the dehumidifier will only need to maintain the humidity so there will be less moisture in the air to pull out. Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not honor warranty Worked fine for about 10 months then quit. I called Haier innumerable times and they always apologized for the delay in honoring the warranty. At times they said a certificate to obtain a new unit was in the mail. Needless to say it never arrived. AVOID Haier products completely!!!!! May 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy at first.... This humidifier is not very loud the fan blows very strong and the built-in pump is great. What I don't like about this Machine is that the fan does not cycle with the compressor so it just runs 24 seven which is annoying... listening to a fan constantly is not ideal. I much preferred my old Kenmore which the fan cycled on and off with the compressor. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dehumidifier Was very happy on how quiet this machine runs. Easy to use. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Loud and did not work I bought this hoping to replace my 10 year old dehumidifier with a quieter model and one that would drain water on its own. I only had the product for 1 week and it was very noisy and did not pull any water from my basement. Maybe i just received a dud, but I returned and bought another dehumidifier from another manufacturer and am completely satisfied. April 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolute garbage The worst thing I have ever bought in my entire life the pump does not work the gravity feed system does not work and it just dumps into the bucket at a slow rate until you have to empty it like a fifth century plebe April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good I needed a dehumidifier with a pump strong enough to get water up into my washer drain, which is about 2ft off the ground. I've been running it non stop for over a month and its been working great. The basement is dry as a bone. It does give off heat, but that can be expected with a machine of this size. August 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor customer service with this Haier Brand Ordered on-line with Home Depot and the product arrived quickly but was not working. I contacted the Haier customer service line and they informed me to take the item to a serice center 40 milesaway. I informed them that the service warranty indicated 12 month IN HOME service, however they woudl not honor that. Therefore, I took the unit back to home depot and exchanged it for another brand. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good investment First off the order was very prompt and on-time. Assembly - basically pull it out of the box - connect the hose and plug-in (ok - perhaps take some wrapping off which was used to protect the unit and check to see if the filter is in place - all dealt with - no issues) The sound it makes...wife says it is loud - I say it is making a humming sound. Again, the unit works very well. Would I recommend - YES! October 27, 2015
