Answer:
You can still use a dehumidifier without a basement. What unit does not matter too much although a larger capacity unit would be a good idea if you are going to empty the bucket rather than running the water into a drain. As central a location as possible in your home would be ideal in placing your dehumidifier. You certainly need at least one.

A side comment - if you are running your air conditioning round the clock and keeping your home closed up I would expect the humidity to be at least ten or twenty percent lower. It would be a good idea to try to identify places that need to be sealed better such as around windows, outlets, doors, etc. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 95 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dehumidifier is effective for dry basement It will be a while before I try the built-in pump, but this unit is keeping my cellar ( including storage, exercise area and electronics tinkering table) at a reasonable level of humidity. The water removed has come in handy for watering the garden without cost. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value purchase Very easy to set up. I wanted a Dehumidifier with a pump so that I wouldn't have to worry about emptying the unit. It works great and is almost maintenance free. September 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fan always running, it doesn't turn off at all. Fan doesn't turn off. It is always running. Easy to assemble. Used connection to empty to sump pump drain. It works well pulling water from the air. Used for about a week. I returned it because fan always on and too loud. Otherwise unit is okay if you don't mind the fan running continuously and the noise. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT DEHUMDIFIER, QUIET THIS DOES WHAT I WANT IT TO DO. IT'S QUIET. THE TANK GETS FULL ABOUT EVERY 8 HOURS. THE ONLY THING I DON'T LIKE IS THE PLASTIC CARRING HANDLE. IT KEEP. IT KEEPS COMING OUT OF THE SIDES. MAYBE IT NEEDS TO BE MADE 1/8" SMALLER TO STAY PUT. I AM GLAD THE TANK WASN'T FULL WHEN THE HANDLE CAME OUT. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good selection Easy set up and operations. No problems and none expected based on past experience with manufacturer of product. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent product I've only owned this dehumidifier a short while now but so far it performs well. The previous model we used did not have a pump so emptying the reservoir was tedious and sporadic after a while. The pump on this one is super easy to set up and works over a decent distance / height. If you have a year round dampness issue in a basement area up to 1000 sq feet it seems to do the job well. If you have standing water issues you need a different solution. As for recommendations I can't give one for a product owned less than 1 year under operating conditions..that recommendation would be unsubstantiated empirically. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase... This product has a continuous fan, which we like. It is great background noise for sleeping. This product works very well. I don't think that we would have liked any of the pricier ones any better. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Machine The humidifier was easy to set up and has been great since. August 23, 2016
