Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frank Simple assembly, sleeping in the heat just got easier!
The unit assembled in minutes, and with modified window adapters cut out of cardboard (we have weird windows, hinged at the bottom, pulling out from the top), the included window adapter made it a more-than-decent fit. The instructions are clear and straight-forward, as to the various modes, speeds and timers, and to be as small as the unit is, it delivers a powerful volume of air. It couldn't have been nicer, unless the remote had been RF instead of IR, and the 8K BTU had been able to blow as powerfully around corners into our den (we found using a couple of small fans and cracking a window open in the den helped pull it through better). Still in "testing" phase (we're running it "full bore" for the first few days, to ensure no warranty worries), it is doing what we were led to believe it would, for the investment made. A very good value for those in rental situations where a window unit is either impossible (like as with us), or undesirable and/or difficult.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NightWalker Works great with old swamp cooler
Our house is long and narrow, and has a roof-mounted swamp cooler at one end. So of course that part of the house is nice and cool, but the other half is roasting. We just got the Haier 8000 BTU unit and placed it at the far end of the "hot zone" and the combination of both coolers running on low is keeping the whole house at about 75 degrees, and it's over 100 outside. It’s a simple and economical solution to a poorly designed setup when the house was built. One installation tip: the window I used to vent the hose is very skinny (about 15”) so I had to trim the mounting panel with a jigsaw. If you use a fine blade and go very slowly you’ll get a nice clean cut. Aside from that, installation took about 10 minutes and operation with the remote is a snap.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paula Exactly what I was looking for...
Once I finally got it installed - the piece for the window is a bit cumbersome - it worked great. My sons' room (according to the new unit) started out at 84 degrees and within 1/2 hour was down to 75. He had been using multiple fans in the room to try to cool it but it was no use. The unit makes less noise than the fans he was using before. I love the fact that there is no need to empty a water pan - we clean the filter every week and have had no problems.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by David Pretty quiet
I have tried two other models, but they are both too noisy for my 200 square foot room. So I ordered this one online. It still makes some noise, but quite quieter, and I am getting used to it. Just wish the exhaust hose was longer so I can better position the machine.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CK Does the job well, but special features don't deliver
This portable a/c unit does a good job of keeping my 90 sq. ft. room cool. Though sometimes it struggles to get the room down to the desired temperature (say, 75 degrees), it definitely makes the place habitable, even on very warm days. The exhaust hose is of good quality (a lot of units are sold with sub-par hoses), which is great.
The auto-evaporate feature on this unit, which means you should never have to drain water from it, isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I still wind up draining it once per week--which is always a challenge, given the size and weight of the unit. My unit was delivered and had a crack down the side due to rough handling, so perhaps that is why.
Despite these flaws, I'm generally satisfied with this unit. I'm a tough grader, so it should live up to your expectations!

I bought two of these air conditioners two years ago for my Mum's semi-detached, 4 bedroom, 3 floor house that has no central A/C.
I can say that they have been working perfectly for the last two years. They are quiet and can cool a large bedroom within 30 minutes. We put one in the dining room/living room and it cools both rooms very well. We set up a fan to send air from the dining room to the kitchen. We put one upstairs in a small room between two large rooms and, with another hallway fan, can cool the upstairs hallway quite nicely and even into the bedrooms.
I recommend this product but, like all electronics, there may be duds on the assembly line. If you are having problems then just send it back and get a replacement becuase they have been working very well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dzbit Good product!
We have been looking for portable AC to cool off a drum booth, which is fully enclosed. I have picked this product for few reasons: 1) the lowest price, 2) rectangular shape, 3) other then white color (white would be shining through the booth glass and it would mess up the whole coloring - silver/gray matches perfectly. 4) Probably #2 on the importance list after the price - has the biggest tank to collect humidity. We have been using it only as AC for about a month now for about 7 hours a week and did not have to empty the tank yet. The install was pretty easy - just made a whole, although to silence the exast i have used a flex clear pipe that has insulation on top which probably silenced it over %60+.
