Answer:
I would think that would not be a problem. Installing a "dryer" vent with a self closing flap would be a good solution if you don't want or can't use the window vent. I am sure if you just compare the flex vent hose diameter to the vent prior to cutting into your wall it do fine. Hope this helps!

8,000 BTU 250 sq. ft. Cool Only Portable Air Conditioner with 70 Pint/Day Dehumidification Mode and LCD Remote Control is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 208.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for a small space. Easy to setup and install. I needed this for a 200 sq ft. office on the central California coast that has southern exposure with 2/3 of the southern wall being windows. I didn't want to have to keep the blinds closed and block the view just to keep the office from becoming a greenhouse. This unit fits right under my desk and is was easy to connect exhaust through the window. It is able to compete with full-sun and keep the temp at a reasonable 68 degrees (or lower if I want it). For all the environmental extremists - yes, I could just close the blinds and save the electricity, but I already have reduced to showering once a week for water conservation. At least I can now retain my view.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Update to an Already Solid Model A little insight on this model: this model is the replacement for the outgoing 7,000 BTU CPRB07XC7. That unit had the same shell/case, but offered only two speeds, consumed 800w, had an Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of only 8.75, and used R-22 (which has been phased out because of its tendency to damage the ozone layer). It was sold under the "Commercial Cool" brand name. Fast forward a few years and we have the current model HPRB08XCM. Although they look almost identical, Haier made major improvements under the shell. The current model uses only 700 watts, giving it an EER of 11.4 (the Home Depot website lists this incorrectly as 7.5), rivaling the efficiency of some Energy Star window units. In addition to being very energy efficient, the current model also offers 3 speeds (an additional slower speed to reduce noise at night. The previous two speeds were the medium and high settings.) and also uses environmentally-friendly R-410 instead of the old R-22. Because of these updates, you'll notice that some of the limitations of previous portable air conditioners won't apply here. This is a relatively quiet (on low) high-efficiency model that pulls less electricity than some 8,000 BTU window units. Having said that, it is still a single-hose unit, SO IT WILL TAKE LONGER to cool down a room than a window unit. However, IT WILL do it as long as you are using it for a room of the rated size. My recommendation is to get the room to the temperature you want at night and use the unit to MAINTAIN that temperature through the day. Portables are great when used that way. I highly recommend this unit; it's a great upgrade to the previous 7,000 BTU unit (which won awards because of its innovative looks and performance when it was initially released years ago).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Compressor Went Out in 60 days This has to be up on bricks to drain the water out every couple days. This pulls LOT of water and I live in arid NM desert. Can't imagine what humid area does and how often have to drain. The drain is right at bottom edge of a/c so to get water out has to be on bricks so can get bowl below to catch the water. Had for 60 days and compressor went out completely. The vent across front can not be moved in any direction for air flow. Also possible for small items to fall into the unit - not good if small children around w/small objects. This and location for drain very poor design. Not to mention 60 day life for compressor. Very disappointed. Returning to store Today!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as I thought I got the AC and installed it 100% as the instructions say. Any time the temp outside gets over 80 it struggles to keep up. I have sealed off all windows air tight. Will be looking for a new brand before summer really hits here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The little AC that could I had recently renovated my attic but had no AC. Of course all recommended upgrading the house system which would have cost thousands but I researched ALOT online and saw great reviews on this. 8,000BTU for a large attic/master with open bath seemed ridiculous. But this little AC is the little engine that could. With the super hot summer, I keep it on and the room is constantly cool. I would highly recommend it. It is small enough to disappear visually under the attic eave, but efficient enough to make the full AC upgrade unnecessary. Great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works wonderfully I recently purchased this unit. I live in Las Vegas, NV so I'm sure you know it gets very hot here. I spent about 6 hours researching online the different units: Portable Acs with single and dual hose and evaporators (similar to a swamp cooler). I was looking for a unit within a reasonable price (less than $300), cools off an area approx 15 x 15 and isn't to loud. I got all that with this unit. Make sure you check the DBs (sound rating) when shopping around, length of hose, etc. Also what I love about this unit is that I don't have to worry about draining it all the time like other AC units that I read about. There is a water outlet drain though which I would use if I selected the dehumidifier option, but thats not why I got this unit. All in all I would purchase this again. The warranty covers everything including labor for one year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough for a very small room I purchased two of these for a 14x15 room and 13x14 room Both rooms well under the square footage this is rated for. It would not cool either bedroom down below 78. The days that were above 90 this model would not bring the room below 80. I ended up purchasing two more larger units and moving these to the smallest bedrooms 9x10 and 10x11 where they work fine and can cool the rooms to low 70s. One room is set at 71 and the other is 72. I would say that these are good for 100 square feet. Maybe a little more. I will say that even though the larger room was 78, there was no humidity and it was quiet enough to sleep with. The reason why I purchased this size in the first place was I knew I was ending up with 4 total and the amperage draw was low enough to not trip off the circuit breaker since 2 bedrooms share a circuit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS GREAT FOR A SMALL ROOM AT THIS PRICE POINT I read a lot of the reviews on this Haier 8,000 portable air conditioner before purchase. Most of the negatives come from those in need of a class in "portable air conditioning 101". Use it within the square footage guidelines it is intended for. Don't say it's junk because it won't cool down 450 square feet. Also, don't wait until the room temp is 80 or 90 degrees and turn it on and expect this, or any air conditioner of this size, to cool the room down in short order. Air conditioners work best if you turn it on when the room temp is at or near your desired comfort temp. Air conditioners "maintain" the room temp far better than bringing the room temp down from 80 or 90 to 72 or 74. We have vinyl windows, so the window install kit is a bit fiddly for these types of windows. But, with some perseverance and ingenuity, it installed snuggly without having to drill holes into the windows. Most units at this price point won't have an "auto" feature which basically will turn the unit on or off automatically at the preset desired temp. However, this Haier does have a timer mode. For example: let's say you leave for work at 7 A.M. and you know your room will begin to heat up at 10 A.M. Turn your unit on, set it on air condition mode, set the fan speed and temp you want. Turn it off. Then press the timer button and the display will show "00". Push the "up" arrow to 3 (hours) and go to work. At 10 A.M. your unit will turn on, the unit will start and cycle between fan and air condition as the room temp begins to rise. You should come home to a comfortable room. Another feature is that this Haier has 3, not 2, fan speeds. This model sits low and the control panel is on the front rather than the top. This is nice because we can put a vase or something on top and not worry about damaging the panel. Plus, it's easier to see when sitting down. It also has a place on top to store the remote. The slide out filter on the side is a great convenience too. As for the water build up some complain about, this Haier will evaporate the water without emptying the tank "provided" your room is not high humidity. Ours works great and keeps our 250 square foot room very comfortable on low to medium fan speed. No portable air conditioner is going to be quiet as the compressor is inside the room rather than outside like window units. But this Haier isn't that loud, and can watch TV without blowing out the speakers. Can't rate the durability yet, but it comes with a standard 1 year warranty and they say they will add another 90 days if you register it on line. I think, for the money, this is a good unit with above par features.
