Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Didn't last but Halo replaced them w/ improved version
I bought three of these to light a closet. After about a year and a half the phenolic resin lamp holder started to fall apart on one of them and the light would sometimes not come on. I bought a new one and realized that the new lamp holder was made out of ceramic which is a material that can withstand a lot more heat. When I looked at the other ones they were showing signs of heat stress as well and didn't look like they would last much longer. Needles to say I was not happy so I sent an email to Halo at the address on the container and told them of my problem and that I would like them to replace the sockets for the lights with the ceramic versions. The said that they didn't have repair parts for them but they would send me whole new ones at no charge. The new ones that arrived had ceramic lamp holders as well. I replaced all three and have not had any problems since. I would not recommend the trim piece unless it has the ceramic lampholder.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LaurieF Wears out quickly
Was initially very happy with the look and ease of installation. The eyeball adjusts easily to point where you need the light, and gives great extra light for counter areas, etc.
Used halogen 60 watt bulbs, and had to replace the bulbs about 2x per year.
Unfortunately, after 4 years the white coating is discolored and peeling, and the light bulb housing is crumbling. For the price I paid (plus the cost of the housing) I expected it to last longer than 4 or 5 years, so gave it a low value rating. And while it looked good when first installed, it sure doesn't look good now.
We only used the lights for a few hours a day, during meal prep, so it's not like it was on constantly. Shopping today to replace these!

The units I installed in our rooms with average amount of sun are completely yellow after a few years. Really stand out on a white ceiling. Those installed in the basement are satisfactory.

The wires were shot on the old trim. This was as simple as trim the wires , connect , and fit into place. What we used to call a bolt in swap.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Recessed lighting iinstall and look in new kitchen
Installation was straightforward since I was putting it into new ceilings and prior to insullating the atttic. Lighbulbs are a different story. Big fingers and small places don't always mix well, but you can pull the light out of the recessed container and then pull apart the fixture itself, push the lightbulb/mount through the front opening and it works just fine. Did have some shorting of the back end of the lightbulb mount when pushing the assembly into the recessed container. Also heating is a problem. Incadessenct and even halogen bulbs will cycle on and off because of heat protection of the fixture. Just bite the bullet and get LED... 4000k worked great for our kitchen and I also put them on a dimmer when softer light is desired.
