Easy to install and look good but... they hum like crazy! The sound is awful and gives me a headache in minutes. I've read countless websites to find answers and have bought $200 in high end dimmers. I bought 14 of these (11 on one circuit and 3 on another) and both sets hum. With my new $200 low voltage dimmers they don't hum anymore, but now they don't dim... I've pretty much thrown $600 in the trash :(

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sparky Does not comply with Energy Star
To comply with Energy Star, the driver must be removable without cutting wires. The driver output wires are bell crimped to the LEDs, which means if the driver needs to be replaced, the wires will have to be cut. There’s no such thing as California Title 24 compliant luminaire. The product meets the California Energy Commission high efficacy requirements to help meet Title 24. Just a clarification.

These Halo LED modules are so worth it. I was originally going to use a different brand to save a little money, but for a few bucks more I went with these Halo LED units, and am so happy about them. You can feel the difference, and so far I am very happy with them, I am looking forward to them way down the road.

Installed six of these in a newly converted space and just ordered 20 more for another area. They are easy to instal. They cast a very natural light(3000K, 90 CRI), which has a very comfortable feel, more so than any other incandescent or florescent I have seen.

Several were broken (in such a way as to know that it did not occur during shipping but rather as a function of the manufacturing).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lance Easy Install and great payback
I installed 15 of these inside Halo 6" cans. Installation was quite straightforward (the trickiest part is attaching the grounding wire, which I did via one of the sheet metal screws holding in the adjustment bracket - a thumbwheel ratchet was the magic tool for doing this inside the can).
Of the 15, I had to return/exchange one because it made a noticeable hum, but the HD store was happy to oblige.
They don't dim down as low as the halogens they replaced, but that was not a big issue for me. They are not absolutely instant-on either, especially at a low dimmer setting, but that's also par for the course with LED's.
As far as payback, the supposed savings on the package are misleading. You'll likely save a lot MORE than that (at least in California), because of the way PG&E prices its power. Most of us are in the 3rd or 4th rate tier, which means that we pay about 13-16 cents a kWH for the first 450 or so kWH, but then it jumps up to 31-36 cents or more after that. Any electricity savings you get from LED retrofits is at the higher rate. But on the carton, they use the national average of around 10 to 11 cents a kWH. The net for me, anyway, is that these LED's will pay for themselves in 12-18 months. Between these and other LED bulbs, I've replaced over 50 lights in my house, and my electricity bills for the last 6 months are running at 50-60% of the same periods last year.
