Answer:
The visible part of the light doesn't get hot, but if the air in the room is cold it may feel very slightly warm to the touch after it has been lit for a while.
The transformer part gets noticeably warm (not hot) in use. But you won't be able to tell because in the normal installation it will be located in the ceiling space.

Answer:
Hello jimmy,
The lights are IC (insulation contact) rated and safe for contact. I would caution though as a best practice to leave space around the cans. This makes it much easier to locate them in case of need of repair or replacement. Concrete forming tubes work great for this. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Answer:
No. Bought four of these and installed two of them that had the 4" circular junction boxes. But could not install in the two junction boxes that were rectangular (2x4). Instructions said that this kit was only compatible with the square or circular junction boxes.

Answer:
Mount of the light itself is lacking ease to click together. Can get oneside, but other is very difficult. Nothing to grip with your hands to click it into place. That was the biggest frustration. Rest went fine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't ever buy a traditional can light again! I was worried initially about the light looking too cold once it was installed because it blends into the ceiling so well. It has a bright white appearance but with the right amount of warm yellow tones. It looks nothing like a fluorescent light and does not put off the heat an incandescent bulb puts off. I bought 21 of these for my house. I bought them because they are a surface mount (kinda tricky to snap in place) but best of all they work in a standard Junction Box. You do not need any special housings like other recessed lighting. They do stand proud at the most 1/2 inch of the ceiling, but they look good. They are also supposed to last 20 years or so. Don't buy these on Amazon unless you want to spend $5-$10 more per light! August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for outdoor covered lighting Interesting installation replacing some really ugly outdoor bulky light fixtures: On the underside of a 4 foot wide balcony. I had 3 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" deep metal junction boxes encased in concrete which would have been very difficult to remove. This sized box was not on the recommend sizes per Halo specs. The 14/2 wiring was routed through 3/4" rigid metal pipe encased through the floor of the balcony to the interior living space. It was a difficult install as I had to drill mounting holes using a concrete drill bit and then used plastic anchors and 1" sheet metal screws for mounting with the additional holes on the bracket. Since the junction box was only 1 1/2" inches deep, I had to position the wire nuts (I added one wire for grounding the metal box and bracket) on upper backside of the mounting bracket where the LED driver is positioned. It was a snug fit alright. It looks great! Though, I would recommend a 4" box for an easier install, but if you are stuck with 3 1/2" box it will work. June 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Lights... BUT I bought a few of these to try out.... So far I REALLY like them, BUT. I had trouble getting the box on the light into the box in the ceiling.... I have a 50 yr old house with 4" J-boxes and round trim rings. The bracket doesn't fit into the trim ring so I had to demo the plaster and am still trying to find an appropriate ring. I temporarily installed it and am very pleased with the color and light it puts out. There is a short flicker each time the light is turned on or off and that I am getting used too. I am hoping to find a mud ring that will work with this light so I can buy more of them. Has anyone had the same issue and how did you resolve it....??? December 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So much better! Replaced our florescent can lights with these. They fit over the existing can and the light is so much better. No more waiting for the lights to "warm up". They look much more attractive as well. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bright white light purchased for installation in shower ceiling (new home contractor overlooked it). Install is a snap. It is safe in wet locations, tested safe for installation near attic insulation, it is bright, and provides a smooth clean look. Only had it for a week, only time will reveal the quality of the LED August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very convenient retrofit for creating a down light Used to update a house built in the late 70's, they provide a nice streamlined look. Being able to surface mount them to a J box is a great idea, I just wish they came in soft white, 2700k color temperature. I also believe they are 2-3X overpriced. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product - sold by a great store - team easy to install - great product = product was perfect for my needs August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really bright, with a pleasant light color Easy and quick to install, a little pricy, but if they last, well worth it. February 16, 2016
