Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fixer "Nearly" Air-Tight Housing
Overall this is a great product. Each conductor, including ground, has a push-in-wire connector for up to 3 wires that makes wiring really easy. The junction box cover plate is removable & can be re-secured without tools. The template for the sheetrock cutout and also the recommended size for the cutout made the hole too tight to get the housing through so I had to do a lot of on-site enlarging of the holes. If you make the hole a quarter-inch larger to begin with it will not affect the air-tightness and it will make it a lot easier to get the housing in. The instructions indicate the housing is supposed to work with 1/2" and 5/8" sheetrock and I was applying them to a ceiling with 5/8" thick sheetrock. I had to stretch the spring clamps to get them to fit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BROOKE35 Halo is the best brand out there
I am a licensed electrician and I can guarantee that when we install recessed lights into a home, whether 100 or 5, we will install Halo lights. I can also guarantee that when you're installing recessed lights into a remodel you CANNOT bet on a 10 min installation. There are so many factors such as where are the rafters? How THICK is the drywall? Is it plaster with lath?
These Halo lights are the easiest to install but they're designed for 1/2" drywall. If you have something other than that (which you may not know until you start cutting) you WILL have to bend clips. So just bend the clips...
I've installed more recessed lights then I care to admit and it is NOT a fun job. So if you're not willing to put a little effort (and probably aggravation) into it, just hire it done.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clearasmud Easy installation, just bend the clips a little
After reading the other reviews on this site, i was hesitant to buy these housings. My ceiling is thick, plaster and 3/8 T&G nailed too it, just take some pliers and bend the clips and they will snap right into place. install was easy. you dont even need wire nuts, just strip and push into the supplied connectors. People need to remember that the majority of the population are idiots and cant figure out simple mechanical problems, and then they write bad reviews of decent products.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Look great and get lots of comments on them!
Im 28 and recently bought a house. My dad gave me a crash course on electrical work, beyond what i already knew. After some trial and error, i got 6 of these lights up in my livingroom on a sunday. That included digging out the vermiculite insulation where the fixtures were going, measuring for joists, etc. The following weekend i wired them in, which i ran 3 light switches to operate them. These arent a quick and easy install, no recessed lighing ever will be. Bending the tabs was as easy as ever. Nothing to it. If you read the bad reviews, ignore them. Some people should just hire an electrican. Great product, and really brightens up a livingroom that originally only had a floor lamp!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ToolDiva Another tip on the clips
I bought these after reading all of the reviews here, so knew going in the clips were going to be challenging. I pre-bent the clips, as others suggested, but still had issues getting them to snap in. What I found was the sheet metal on the can at the top of the clip was bending outward, which blocked the clip from being able to move up and lock. After two clips did the same thing, I found that if I pre-bent the slot where the top of the clip goes through the can, the clip would lock in much easier. From the inside of the can, take the clip out completely, then use a big straight screwdriver and stick it up from the inside of the can and bend that slot inwards. Then reinsert the clip. This can all be done after the can is in the ceiling, but it might be easier to do it before you put them in place. Other than the clip problem, the cans seem OK. The quick connectors are a nice upgrade.
