BrewStation Summit Ultra 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well in an office setting The coffee maker works very well for our 50 employees. We make at least 3 pots per day and it's making great coffee. Very reliable and easy to keep clean. A great improvement from our last coffee make is when we open the lid, the condensation does not flow onto the counter. It has a track that makes it flow back into the reservoir.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cool Design, But Could Be Better I bought this to replace a $6 glass carafe type coffeemaker I bought at Wal-Mart. After three years, the carafe broke, so I looked at other options. What I really wanted was a thermal carafe, but most options were over $100. So I settled on this design instead. This machine basically is an upside-down coffeemaker, with no carafe. You fill up the portable upper reservoir, pour it into the tank, set the reservoir over the tank and set the filter basket on top of both. The coffee moves up from the tank into the basket, then back down into the upper reservoir. A metal heating element in the lower tank mates with a metal piece on the upper tank, keeping the coffee warm for up to 4 hours. The design is nice in that it doesn't take up any more room than a traditional coffeemaker. I like that it is easy to fill and dispense. There are suction cups on the base that keep it steady as you press your cup against the dispensing lever. It is fully programmable, and the BOLD setting makes a nice cup of strong coffee; it slows down the brew to allow the water to sit longer with the grounds. It also accepts a typical basket filter, which is nice. Once you wrap your mind around the design of this machine, you find that it is easy to use. What I don't like is that you can't clean the portable upper water reservoir in your dishwasher. For that reason alone, it gets an average rating. In today's fast-paced world, there really is no excuse for making someone hand wash the parts of a simple appliance. What's more, the reservoir contains a pour spout molded into its shape, but getting the angle right as you pour water into the tank can be tricky. Because there is no carafe, you can't serve coffee at the table. Finally, the machine says it won't impart that "burned coffee smell," but it does. Why? Because an exposed metal heating element touches the coffee inside the upper reservoir. I find myself not using the heating element for that reason and warming up coffee in the microwave instead. The heating element also gets easily stained, meaning you have to hand-wash it frequently (the heating element is likely the reason why you can't stick the upper reservoir in the dishwasher). Next time, I think I will pony up a little extra dough and buy a thermal carafe style machine.
