Yes. Since it is still dependent on your wallswitch, you can turn it off if you do not want it on

Answer: 
Dimmable CFL's work fine but some of the LED's on the market won't go back off at sunrise. Trial and error is the best bet. I like Cree brand dimmable LEDs

I thought I could use the Cree brand sold in the store, but it specifically states on the packaging NOT to use in an exterior, enclosed light fixture. I hunted around for an LED bulb that did allow me to use outside in an enclosed light fixture. I only used an equivalent 60 watt LED bulb and it's bright enough for my space.....and the bugs love it!!

Answer: 
YES and no. Specifically buy LED bulbs that say they are OK for enclosed use. They will typically have a very large heatsink on it. I like the Cree LED bulbs from home depot (the ones with the heatsink attached at the base of the glass).
