Installed and grounded properly these light fixtures are like any other and can be tied into a dimmer. Here's the deal... it's the bulb you install that makes your answer yes or no. 1: old school incandescent bulbs up to 60 watts, OK, EXCEPT "three ways"...that kind that go brighter in increments. 2: CFL bulbs,( the squiggly tube) kind, and 3: the new LED bulbs, if dimmable, are usually marked prominently on the box. If in doubt at all, ask. (I know, it's like asking directions, ask anyway) . I think Home Depot still sells Lutron products. They have a standard light switch with a tiny dimmer slider tucked just to one side, way better than the bulky box and knob of the past. Follow all dimmer installation directions to the letter. You'll need a medium sized Phillips head screwdriver and an extra pair of hands would be helpful but not absolutely necessary.

Make sure that you have a good grip on the bottom, because when the final screw is out, there's nothing but you to keep the glass and frame from falling, which is why a helper is nice. The two halves should separate, exposing the bulb for changing. While you're at it, take the time to remove all the little "critters" that love to set up shop in outdoor lighting, before putting the two halves back together. Happy Fixing!

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good light for the money These are the same exact lights as the old Commercial Electric brand HD carried years ago. And two for one price is why I bought them. Ours have been up for 4 years and they have held up well over NE Ohio Winters. To add what others have said said, you need to be very careful when changing the bulb. They are nice looking lights however, the tiny screws could easily be dropped and lost. I have 6 of these and am in the process of replacing with thumbscrews. It is a 4mm and i found black thumbscrews at a hardware store and HD does not carry this size. The screw will just need cut off a bit to make work. Too bad Hampton Bay did not change these over to thumbscrews to make changing the bulbs easier. I plan on putting Led Bulbs in though so changing in the future won't need to be done often. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking light Got it on sale 50% off, very worth it. Looks great! June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect match to the ceiling fan we bought The lights were easy to install on our open block atrium wall gracing either side of the wrought iron gate that opens into the atrium . Even more importantly they are a perfect match for the ceiling fan and light fixture we just installed in the atrium. The price was amazing and the craftmanship of the lights was excellent. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive, easy to install, nice quality. This two pack of lights was priced great, the quality is very good and installation was quick and easy. The style goes nicely with the wrought iron on our older mediterranean home. November 13, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good, quality is not there. Its stamped steel, will rust. Feels cheap but then again, it was inexpensive. You get what you pay for. May 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty decent product for reasonable price. Bought two of the 2 Packs of these lights. I wanted all of my exterior home lights to match on a remodel I'm doing. The install was fairly straightforward and quick. I had all four of these installed in about an hour. They look great with the style home I have, and the amber glass gives off a nice soft glow with a standard 60 watt replacement CFL bulb. As far as longevity, it's to early to tell, but I feel they should hold up just fine. It's a good product for the price. January 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Magnetic screwdriver There were a lot of posts about small screws. They are small but with the assistance of a magnetic screwdriver I was able to screw them in while holding the glass with one hand. Pretty smooth install, took me half hour-45 minutes. Look nice also. We'll see how they survive hill town winter. Looking for smaller set that matches. For $50 bucks seems like a real value for the set. October 2, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very good match My "patio" and garden is in the front of the house, and it is curvy, so the Hampton Bay lamps fit well into that style. They raise my suburban ranch up a notch or two above "rustic", when combined with a few other upgrades. They are about 30% bigger than the usual offerings, at half the average price.. Since they have a tailored, well-finished look, that's just fine. I'm putting LED bulbs in them, and so my Patio will be flooded with light while using about 19.5 watts. By now, I imagine you know I'm pleased. March 27, 2014
