Why do we have grommets on top of the canvas?

We finally put ours up today and I realized we have grommets/holes on the top of the canvas. Won't the mosquito's get in there? Model#GGHL00019
Asked by: Anonymous
As far as I can tell, the grommets in the roof are a result of poor design. Most people believe they are there to allow excess rain to drain and prevent pooling, but my experience indicates the holes are not necessary for that. We live on the north coast of Oregon and get large amounts of rain. We have used these gazebos on our deck in the summertime for the last 12 years -- replacing them (or at least the canopy) about every three years. The canopies used to come with no holes in the roof... and no problem with pooling water. When properly installed, the canopy stretches taut and rain water sheds off just fine. Then a few years ago, some bright designer apparently decided adding grommets was a good idea. One of the purposes of using a gazebo in our part of the country is to be able to sit outside in the summertime even during rain showers. The grommets only serve to allow annoying drips of water inside usually right where we want to sit (around the perimeter). I have tried sending feedback to the company expressing my displeasure with the design with no response. Maybe one day they'll wake up and go back to the earlier design with no grommets. In the mean time there is unfortunately no alternative at this price point, so we put up with the annoying, silly grommets...

Does this gazebo's nets have zippers?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes there is a zipper in the center of each side. You can keep them open with the built in Velcro tie-back or keep them zipped closed. They work individually, so you can have some open, some closed.

Can I set it up on a deck?

Asked by: auntie
yes just screw it down, but do not attach the velcro strips to the frame as it rips, just secure with the 4 corners & you'll be fine

How do I store it for the winter?

We have it at our summer house on the lawn on the coast of Maine. It took more than two hours to put up with three adults helping to assemble it. I dread taking it down. Is there a better way?
Asked by: Sweetiehare
I've had mine for 5+ years. I keep the frame up all winter and use the cover and netting only in the spring and summer months. My frame is in good condition, no issues here.

10 ft. x 10 ft. Arrow Gazebo is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 454.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product My husband and brother were able to assemble this in about an hour and a half in spite of the directions. They both complained that the directions could have been much clearer. With that said, I love this gazebo. It looks really nice, is sturdy and just the right size for our backyard. Ohh and the price can't be beat. We live in Los Angeles, so I don't expect any major storms, but we did anchor the corners with sandbags because we don't have grass nearby to secure it.

Every 2 years the fabric on the top just rips and gets holes in it. I take the cover and screens off every fall before winter comes and that doesn't help a bit. New screens and new tops are $79.00 each. I could have just bought a gazebo with a hard top with all the extra money I spent on replacement materials. I will be purchasing a new one this year. Good riddance to this one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't Hold Up Against Wind My husband and I absolutely loved this gazebo after a very long day of putting it together. We had a lot of trouble getting the canopy to stretch over the frame. It looks gorgeous, and we thought it was perfect for our backyard. We anchored it down (I would NOT recommend just letting it "sit" on a deck or patio) but it didn't even last three months. One storm ripped it to shreds. Both the canopy and metal frame were destroyed, and took out a chunk of our roof when it flew across our yard. We're extremely disappointed to have wasted $200. It is beautiful, but way too much work to take down each time it rains or gets windy.

Frame and material quality is what is to be expected at this price range. Used tapcon's to secure corner pieces. Looks good, especially with bamboo shades suspended from cross bars on the sunny side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent replacement gazebo. This gazebo replaced a 12x12 we had which had been damaged by wind and sun over the past 8 years. We no longer needed such a large one, so bought this 10x10. Although the frame is lighter weight than the other one, it supports the canopy well and was very easy to assemble. The corner shelves are a very useful feature. The canopy handles wind well due to the four-inch overhanging "fringe" which ducts the wind below the canopy rather than catching the wind to stress the canopy. The corners of the canopy attach to the top of the corners of the frame through use of a brass grommet which fits over a built-in threaded bolt and is secured by a decorative screw-on cap. This is much easier to assemble and, I believe, stronger that fitting the ends of the canopy support rods into a "pouch" of fabric at the corners. The other gazebo we had had that type of attachment and was always the weak point of the construction. We live in coastal South Carolina and experience frequent windy conditions and thunderstorms. This gazebo has so far withstood all weather with excellent results. It is anchored at each corner with nylon tie=down straps hooked into eyebolts set in the concrete slab of the patio. Overall, an excellent gazebo, perfect for our purposes at an excellent price.
