Answer:
Yes. That is what I have on it. The only determining factor is that the light is 12 Volt AC. Brand does not matter.

Answer:
If the transformer output voltage matches the voltage requirements of the lights themselves, and the wattage rating is higher than the actual lamp wattage load, sure.
Lights don't care what brand transformer is supplying the 12 volts. 12 volts is 12 volts.
Some transformers offer a slightly higher voltage tap that can be used for longer runs, where voltage drop might be an issue, 13-14v

Answer:
Yes the Hampton bay is compatible as long as you hage a transformer that has a higher wattage than what you need. You need to calculate all light wattage to find out the size if transformer you will need.

I don't know why it wouldn't work with any type of low voltage outdoor lighting as long as your total wattage is appropriate to the size of this transformer.

I will not be able to use the photocell and want lights to be able to be set for how many hours I want them on overriding the photocell. Is that possible and for how many hours can I keep the lights on for? Thanks!

Answer:
Hi, you could set your transformer to be always ON and buy an external timer that would power the switch according to your needs. You could also just leave them ON at all time if that works better for you. Thank you for your interest in our product.

Answer:
You cant over ride the photo cell but you can set how long the lights stay on. They come on at dark (mine its way dark before they come on) and you can set them between 1 and 9 hours to turn off. Or dark to dawn. you can also set it to stay on constantly. . Now another way is to plug it into a timer set it to stay on coastally then set your timer for the hours you want.

We get these afternoon thunder boomers here in south Fla. where it gets really dark and rains, then the sun comes out an hour later. Will this turn on and stay on for the set time or will it turn off when the sun comes back out? Also, I have to mount one where a street light will be shining on it. What effect will that have on the sensor?

Mine wont come on till it's way dark, like black outside. Not sure about the street light but you can always plug it into a timer, set it for constant on and then set your timer.

Answer:
Hi, yes it can light up depending on how dark it is when there's a storm. The photocell is sensible so it should normally light up. When the photocell detects light again, it will shut off. The street light might be a problem though if it's near. It all depends on the location of your transformer. You could always try to shade it a little with something.

Answer:
Hi Chris, thank you for your interest in our product. If the wattage consumption is higher than the rating (200W on this transformer), the transformer will shut down on its own. If this happened to you, please verify that you did not overload your system with too much watts. You can calculate the total amount of watts used simply by doing a sum of all your fixtures individual wattage utilization.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 82 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks and works great so far I recently installed this low voltag transformer and it is working (and looking) great so far. It was easy to install to the wall with 2 screws and easy to connect the low voltage wiring (with 2 other screws). The unit looks good (all black), makes no noise at all, and has worked properly since I installed it. July 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by heavy duty but rattling parts inside I ordered this part online and had it shipped to my home. I was upgrading from a 150W supply that went out after a year. It was double boxed but when I opened it up, I heard some parts rattling around inside. I found it more convenient to take apart than ship it back and wait another week to receive a new one. After opening it, I found that there are four screws holding the transformer to the case. All four screws were loose and on two of them, the nut and star washer were completely off (and rattling inside the case). I put it all back together and everything seems fine. Not sure how all this happened but other than that issue, the product seems very heavy duty and I hope it lasts longer that the other transformer I was using. I wish the display would turn off after maybe 5 seconds and then come back on after a button press but oh well ( I guess I could cover it up and leave the photocell exposed). Mounted it to brick and I like a permanent install so I cut the plug off. November 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A premium product I had and Intermatic timer before and it only lasted 5 short years. The Intermatic timer was all plastic. The Hampton Bay power pack is all metal. March 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quality worth a few dollars more Other brands were a bit less expensive, but this unit is built better and is more reliable/ December 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed It's a pretty large casing (larger than the comparable 200W transformer it replaced) but installation was easy and it seems like it's very good quality. I got 6 years out of the previous one and this one seems like it should last far longer based on relative quality of materials. I'm also impressed with the light sensor - I use it to come on at dusk but it's in a location where the shrubs do tend to overgrow it by mid-summer, but the sensor is still working great (coming on when I want it). The red LED light is visible from quite a distance but it's not an issue for me with the location I have. You could always put some black electrical tape over it if necessary. Very happy with this purchase and the price and ease of buying was good. August 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good low-voltage transformer This transformer replaced an existing one that became over run by ants, which seems to be a common problem with these things. Anyway, I had to relocate the two screws which the unit hangs from as the other one was of different width, but no big deal. I connected the wires and plugged it in. I've only had it for about 3 weeks and it is working fine. I like the large digital numbers which appear in the front so that you can set the time that the unit remains lit after it turns on. Another nice feature is the eye that senses the light intensity that triggers the unit to turn on the lights is located in the unit itself. Other ones I've had in the past had the sensor on a separate wire. Not a big thing but I prefer it that way. Happy with it so far. Just hope the ants can't crack this one. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Decent so far I am still evaluating this timer (it's been 3 weeks) but so far it is working pretty well. I have it set with the photosensor so that it comes on automatically at dusk and then the timer is set to shut off 8 hours later. This timer is mainly triggered with the photosensor so if you can't use it in that sense then you may want to look at a more manual setting one. Like in my front yard I have one of my landscape lights pointing near the that timer so that would not be the scenario to use a photosensor timer device. It has one set of terminals so you would have to double up multiple lines off of just that one. I have two separate wires hooked up. It is a bit bulky and has some weight to it. February 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Transformer I purchased this transformer partially based upon other reviewers comments. I offer the following comments of my own. The transformer is well protected as it is encased in steel and provides a weather resistant hinged access door to the controls. The user controls provide me the flexibility to operate our lighting from dusk to dawn or from dusk to a series of preset times. I found this unit to be easy to install during our lighting installation. In addition, this 200-watt unit is easy to operate and is a great value. I recommend this product. May 26, 2015
