18 ft. Clear Rope Light Kit is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I expected more from Hampton Bay !! Hampton Bay has in my opinion have always had excellent ceiling fans but I was very surprised at the poor quality of the rope lighting that they manufacture. The lighting at first glance after installation will give you the right amount of lighting but they just don’t last, meaning that I have returned this product # 775 129 twice because several sections have burnt out. The third set only lasted 6-months and they’re only used at night but according to the package they should last 10,000 hours which in my case would be 5-years!! Home Depot is great but they can only do so much and after looking at the warranty it states “NONE”!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bulbs go dark very quickly Over the past 4 years, I have purchased 6 of these, to light the way for my mother, who is legally blind. I keep purchasing these, because there is no alternative. Whole sections go dark, usually within 2 or 3 months after I plug them in. I have this string connected to a motion-detector (x10), so that when mother enters the room, the lights go on, or when the ambient light is reduced, as on stormy days. I gave this product 3 stars, because 1) the screws are very cheap; 2) the clips are thin, breakable plastic (usually last about a month before the vacuum breaks them); and 3) very short lifetime for the integrety of the string, because sections go dark so quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is ok I like the install, not to difficult. Clips however are NOT user friendly. You need little fingers to install them. They provide a nice light for evening outside on the deck. However, they go out in 1 year or less. I have been trying to find a splice kit to repair the string, but to no avail. These are 3/8" diameter and the repair kits I have found are for 1/2". So, needless to say if you can't find the splice kit you are forced to purchase new strings. Now a days money is tight, why can't they invent something that will last at the least 4 years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If they lasted they'd be 5 stars I set my rope lights up to line my basement steps. At first they worked great, and they go on and off with the basement lights as I wired them to the same switch. It is now about two months later and a small section at the end is burnt out. Keep in mind these lights never move, so they burnt out from simply being turned on and off. Garbage!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not too dark and not too light Perfect understated lighting for my smaller deck. (You can hook 2 strings together for longer light strings, they are made for that) Not so bright you feel like you are indoors with a light on, just bright enough to see all around you. As others have said, the connectors are VERY difficult to work with, they are tiny, and you must drill small holes to screw them in. Luckily they include a few extras, I broke a couple trying to put the screw in at the end. But, now that it's gotten cold, all I had to do was go out, pull them out of the clips, and roll them up. So I'm glad I didn't staple them, which I was tempted to do. The easy way to add lights to your patio or deck without the need for an electrician. And the price is GREAT. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the color of these lights I have had these outside for five years now, aside from being dirty they are still in good condition. I have them underneath my fascia in the back yard to add indirect lighting and in the front yard I have them mounted on the top of the fascia, we only use the front yard lights during the Christmas season and since they are mounted on the front of the fascia we put red big bulb lights on the edge of the fascia and it looks wonderful during Christmas we always get compliments on how nice and elegant our house looks during Christmas. Since it has been five years and all the clips that hold the lights are frail and breaking we are re-mounting them with a more secure clear track, and with that since I have had my lights for so long I think I am going to buy new, too lazy to clean the existing. I read all the bad reviews on these lights and I haven't had any of the same problems. I hope when I buy my new set it is as dependable as what I currently have. I say five years is a long time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rated for outdoor use - short term only I installed these lights around my deck and steps for accent and safety lighting. They last about 1-1/2 to 2 years. I'll be replacing them for the 3rd time in 4 years very soon since sections are burnt out on most of them - about 150 ft. total. They last through one Seattle winter - which are pretty mild - but not two.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from rope lights - the design secret rope lights are great. you can tuck them under counters, desks, cabinets, around windows etc. the only thing to watch out for is twisting them too tightly or roughly when unwinding can kill long segments of lights.
