Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by May This Hampton Bay Flushmount from Home Depot was not as easy to install as some. After paying my neighbor to mount it for me, when I turned it on I was very disappointed in the lighting. When I purchased it, it showed as if it put out enough bright light, it was also in a group with other fixtures on so it was not the real lighting from this light. It is horrible for lighting in a kitchen where you need good lighting. I had to put in a brighter bulb over my sink so I could be able to see better. Was a waste of time and money.

I have bought quite a few of these light fixtures, painted the frames and outer rims then I turn them into wall lights with a cord and switch, and I put logos on them. They make an outstanding 18 Inch LocoLamp.
I don't buy a similar light from LOWE'S because they don't include light bulbs. And I prefer the design.
I have to inspect 2-LIGHT FLUSH-MOUNT CEILING FLUORESCENT LIGHTS before I leave the store because some parts are frequently bent or warped.
Nonetheless, I am very pleased overall with these lights and intend to buy as many as my customers want into the future.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CJ Initial Review Nice Fluorescent Light
I read the reviews decided to take a chance anyway. The coast of the light, and the 3 year warranty was my deciding factor. Installation was a breeze, installed in less than 30 min. Ascetically its a great looking fixture, and matches with appliances. Great Light coverage for a mid sized kitchen. From initial review I would recommend this Lighting Fixture.

I can't rate the ease of installation because my husband installed it and I don't recall if he had trouble. Oh, and we were so pleased w/ the appearance. We had an older kitchen light that worked well but wanted to replace w/ a newer sleek looking light.
The ballast on the new light failed within 18 months. We replaced it w/ the Viva VEB8222 3. Less than a year later and the ballast is shot again. The cost to replace (from ballastshop.com) is $24.95 + $9.50 shipping. We won't be replacing it, it is time to look for a new light fixture that has better reviews.

The ballast that comes with the Hampton Bay lights that use 2 circline bulbs lasted about 1 year before it failed. The original style replacement ballasts (Viva VEB82223) are available from The Ballast Shop on line but are $25 each. I purchased two replacement ballasts, one to replace the original ballast which failed and another just to have a spare. The first replacement ballast lasted 11 months. Today I installed the second replacement ballast and replaced the bulbs which I purchased at Home Depot for approximately $23 dollars for both. Hopefully this newest ballast will last more than a year.

Great looking light, puts out a lot of brightness. Relatively simple to install if you've done a little home-repair electrical work. But, the first one I bought lasted about two weeks before it started going dim on me. Recycle the on-off switch and it came back bright. Thought I'd replace the ballast, but you can't buy it at the store. Brought the light back and exchanged it for a new one. Voila, works normally...for 10 months. Now can I find a ballast? Do I buy another light, because we really like it. Ballasts run in the 25-40 dollar range, if I can get one to fit this light, so a new light isn't much more, but I'd like it to last a couple of years...am I being unreasonable?
