I really appreciate the previous answers! I used WD-40 with straw, it didn't work right away but when I tried again, an hour or so later, I was able to unscrew the glass bowl. Thanks

Answer:
Mine was stuck at first too. I was able to get the glass loose by taking down the fixture, spraying Formula D40 around the glass edge, tapping the metal fixture sides heavily, and then flipping it over and unscrewing the glass counter clockwise.

Answer:
It is tough to remove, but not impossible. I was able to remove it after I used WD-40(with the straw attachment). I sprayed the WD-40 between the bezel and the glass then let it sit for a minute. You may have to bang it lightly before spinning it counterclockwise.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We reached out to the MFG for more information and find their response below.
"Glass can be removed twisting the glass counter-clockwise from the frame. If the glass has been on the fixture for many years, it can be difficult to remove due to the constant expansion from the heat and retracting when the light is off."

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good one It matches my Hampton Bay fans and I've had them for a long time.easy to clean and looks good September 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Looking Fixture -- Worth the Effort! I had this fixture installed in my kitchen in 2011; it's a great looking fixture and I like it a lot. But as others have mentioned, removing the glass cover is not easy. The fixture had been in for almost two years before I had to change a bulb, and the cover just would not budge. I ended up calling Hampton Bay's customer service number (yes, there is one!). They told me to try pushing up slightly while turning, which sounded kind of crazy, but it worked. Fast forward to 2015, and once again it's time to change bulbs. Even though I had my notes from the first time, it was just as frustrating the second time around. Had to tap lightly around the edges, and then push up and turn to get the cover off. But I'm back in business now, and hopefully won't have to face this again for another couple of years. I wish it were easier to change the bulbs, but at least I don't have to do it very often! April 16, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Purchase - globe unable to be removed once installed These lights were installed when I purchared my home. Once the bulbs went out there was no way to take the glass globe. The only option was to break the glass when i saw the housing had fused to the glass making turning to remove impossible. I am currently looking for the globe to replace the broken one and cannot locate it. It looks as if I will have to purchase another whole unit. What a waste. BTW I have two lamps and this exact same thing happened to both. January 2, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Really flimsy frame. WIll not recommend. The frame, like other reviewer mentioned, is thin. Really thin. Should have been at least couple of gauge better. That makes it hard to completely flush with the ceiling. Slight gap exists on one side or another. Prefered the smooth bottom (instead of a nut), hence picked it up. The size (width and depth) is decent. The frame is a bit deep and so there is less light getting out from the sides. The floating reflector inside comes down and touches top of the bulbs. Did not like that. For the price, you can do better than this. Installation was usual. Brushed steel looks nice when the light is off. Access Lighting in Home Depot has some good models but they tend to use halogens so that is a negative. March 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PERFECT FIT This light fixture is just what the cook ordered for our kitchen. The install was simple and an exact fit. Attractive match for our stainless appliances and lights up the area very well. December 10, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Glass dome fell off The lighting fixture was installed by our handyman. After several weeks we heard a crash coming from the kitchen and discovered that the glass dome had fallen off. It looks like there are no screws that hold the dome on place. I doubt we will able to replace the glass and will need to buy a new unit. September 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fixture fit our needs exactly The light fixture had exactly the features we were looking for. Looks and works great. Easy to install. July 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product This lamp is a pretty nice product, its easy to install, however the fiber inside the plate in some cases disturbs the screwing of the base onto the wall. Anyway I believe for the cost is a suitable product. May 20, 2014
