This fixture looks good, and does not block too much light in my experience. Installation was fairly straightforward, but as other reviewers note, you will get showered in fiber glass dust. Not sure how common that is for fixtures of this type. But a warning to anyone planning to use LED light bulbs with this fixture! The LED bulbs I got (Cree 60-watt equivalent) are so large that they press against the shade when it is installed. This puts enough pressure on the fixture, which seems to have loose wiring or something, that at least one of the bulbs ends up staying off, or worse, flickering on and off and irritatingly random intervals. I tried exchanging it for a new one, but it had the same problem. If you plan on using LED bulbs, I don't recommend this fixture. For incandescent or smaller fluorescent, it's probably fine.

Used to replace on old light in a bathroom near the shower. Gives off great light and being all white it pretty much blends in with the ceiling. Hard to beat for the price!

I bought this fixture to replace a 40 year old light that looked very similar. I could not get the screws to align with the light fixture. It turns out my 100 year old house has 3 inch diameter, 1/2 inch deep round ceiling box.with a hole spacing of approx 2 3/4 inch. This fixture has an approx 3 3/8 inch hole spacing., its too big for my old box. There is an adaptor mount to hold lamp but its also larger than my electrical box. The old light had two different sets of holes for both sizes. I eventually drilled holes beyond the box to allow the mounting screws to pass into the ceiling. Aside from the size problem, I rate the fixture as good.

Difficult to mount, and get shreds of insulation everywhere. A simple center post mount with nut would have worked much better.

Outstanding value. I use this for a hall closet and fit 2 60-watt Cree LED's ($2 each at HD) for very bright light and very little heat.. The bulbs are a close fit, but it works fine. This is a good quality unit with ceramic sockets (not bakelite) and extra insulation on the lead wires. It lines up with standard wall box and is easy to install (just read the instructions). No problems with fiberglass or insulation coming loose.

this ceiling fixture is a great deal, straight forward design and great for general purpose lighting. have purchased this model several times and works great in lighting the area. always go with the 2 lamp for maximum light, and always use CFL's! will only use up to 13Watt CFL bulbs, fixture too shallow for 26 Watt CFL's. only problem with this fixture is the mounting holes... only 1 of the 2 sets shown, have to feel around for the other set of holes. all these 8 " pans have universal mounting... Hampton bay only marks 1 set. will always use this style ceiling fixture in all my homes!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mag1 Good looking fixture and good price - installation was very awkward
Only the outer diameter fixture base mounting holes were exposed. When mounting to the standard ceiling electrical box bracket which is provided with the fixture, the machine screws ran into the (round) electrical box casing so it could not be mounted/tightened. There are the standard smaller diameter holes in the base, but they are not exposed and awkward to use as the holes/screw heads are under the bulb sockets. Probably mounts easy if you have an electrical box that allows use of the exposed outer diameter mount screws.
