Customer Questions & Answers

are the base and wall cabinet doors for Hampton Bay able to be changed from right open to left open? Thank you!

Asked by: Joanne
Since the doors do not include hardware or any pre-drilled holes for hardware, you can flip the doors to hinge on the opposite. You will need to drill new holes for the hinge screws. So, make sure you do this before adding hardware!

Is it possible to cut 1/2" off the entire bottom of the cabinet?

Hampton Bay has great cabinets for the price but they are 1/2" too tall for my project. I'm wondering if it would be possible to cut that amount off the bottom without affecting the bottom floor of the inside of the cabinet? Thanks!
Asked by: Scorpioforu
Yes, the base is a separate assembly.

does it come with a top cover?

Asked by: alcia
Countertops are sold separately. Granite fabricators often have small remnants that they will finish to fit the cabinet at a reduced price (approximately $120 where I live in SC). Home Depot sells prefab laminate countertop pieces but they require some work. Ask for help in the store.

Do you need to add spacers or shims to the top of the cabinet to allow drawer to open without hitting the countertop?

Asked by: Kevin
If your countertop sets on top of the cabinet and does not have a lip that hangs over, then there is plenty of clearance and no need for extra shimming.

24x34.5x24 in. Hampton Base Cabinet with Ball-Bearing Drawer Glides in Satin White is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Recommended with Reservations For installation, I give this a 2. For everyday usage, I give this a 4. The cabinets are not built truly square and required quite a bit of sanding, shimming and chalking to get multiple units to line up. Once installed, the cabinets function well. The finish is pretty durable and easy to clean. The movable shelf is identical to the upper cabinets and only about 10" deep. There are several options of pre-drilled peg holes heights. You must install knobs or handles (there are no pre-drilled holes for this) because there is no space to grab the edge of the door below the drawer. The drawer is roomy and glides well but also requires knobs or handles to be installed to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect to replace defunct dishwasher This cabinet was installed in the place left vacant by a defunct dishwasher. It fits perfectly into the apperature, as you can see from the photo. One negative: The base piece is unpainted. Six positives: The drawer slides smoothly and is well balanced. The door hinges are solid. The construction tight; it didn’t wobble under pressure from the top or to the sides. The interior design is practical: one shelf is provided with holes drilled allowing additional shelving The exterior design is simple but appealing to the eye It is reasonably priced compared to other like offerings

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing Parts Looks great, then went to put in the shelving and there aren't holes for the back where the pegs could fit. Of course I couldn't take them back since I already paid for them to get installed. I went back to Home Depot to ask why there were no holes and they said I could buy some 1/4"pegs. What? It supposedly came with all the parts. Irritated but have no choice since they've been installed Next time I will have them open a box and check it out myself

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A mistake I bought several of these cabinets. They are poorly put together and the drawer hardware seems pretty flimsy. I had to repair them where the KREG screws in the face frames do not hold their connection and reinforce them adding a place to attach the countertop. There is no attachment point in the base cabinets for connection to the countertop. The flyer for the cabinets is very misleading. I wish I had realized how they were built before purchasing them and bringing them home. My wife did not like the cabinets at Lowe's, though after installing these I looked over there stock cabinets and found they were a much better cabinet. My mistake! I generally depend on Home Depot for a good quality product. You let me down.

The corner was broken, we chose to have our carpenter fix it. We've ordered many of these cabinets for our storage and have had no problems. But would recommend you examine before leaving the store. Make sure to place your order a few days in advance. Both times we've ordered them for in store pick up, we had to wait a couple of days for them to pull the stock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage The track was bent and the entire cabinet was racked. Half of all the cabinets were either damaged or improperly constructed and falling apart. I didn't realize the problems until they were unpackaged and in some cases installed. I highly recommend that people open these immediately possibly even at the store and be prepared to return half of what you bought. These cabinets are simply junk!!

Yes I may be slightly less expensive but the overall quality was just not there. Luckily its just for some basement cabinets. Just a little flimsy and the door to drawer alignment was a little off. Even with the "instructions" on how to adjust the door position. For that kind of money I think the factory should align them before they leave the shop.
