CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Okay starter cabinet. Not Great. Okay starter cabinet. Not Great. These cabinets will be upgraded within 5 years. Will not hold up to everyday use for very long. Went to multiple stores just to find 10 that matched, were not damaged and that were assembled correctly. Most if not all, have the faces of the drawers installed incorrectly and you would have to tear the entire piece apart to fix it yourself. We had to end up taking what we could "live" with rather than what would be right. January 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by I've seen better, but not as bad as other reviews state. First off, yes, this cabinet does NOT go all the way back to the wall. I have seen many lazy susan's made this way. Basically, the rotating shelves cannot be any larger than the radius of the front opening unless the center or rotation is set WAY far back in the cabinet. So, to make the cabinet cheaper, they simply didn't make it any deeper than the rotating shelves are. This does make it harder to install -- but it's still doable, just attach it to one of the cabinets beside it first, then install the two as a unit. Then cut a couple of 2x4's to use bracing between it and the wall near the top. Then put the cabinet beside it on the other side and lock the entire assembly in place. The biggest headache with this unit is the fact that the entire top is sealed. This makes mounting the countertop a royal pain. You pretty much have to assemble the miter joint and tighten the joining plates BEFORE you slide the countertop into place. It also means you can't use screws to pull the countertop down firmly into place in the corner. Less than simple solution: brace the rear part of the cabine with extra 2x4's when you assemble it to the wall, then remove a fairly large section of the top of the cabinet (including the area where the rotating shelves attach). This gives you direct access to the bottom of the countertop to tighten all but the most recessed joining plates. You can also then install L braces screwed through the sides of the cabinet into the rear 2x4 bracing to use to screw up into the underside of the countertop to lock it down into place. Then, remount the rotating shelf column directly to the bottom of the countertop (or put in a 3/4" piece of particle board attached to the bottom of the cabinet first to give it a bit of extra stability). Was it a bit of a pain? Yes. That said, the end result was fine and the price was good. Just figure that you will probably need an extra $10 worth of 2x4's and L-brackets to complete assembly properly. And, if you do remove a chunk out of the top of the cabinet, be SURE you put in the 2x4's at the rear (on the outside of the back) to reinforce things and don't cut any closer than about 2" from the front opening so that you don't weaken it too much in this area. Rated 1 out of 5 by The Measurements are WRONG!!! We purchased an entire kitchen full of these Hampton Bay kitchen cabinets - including the corner base with lazy susan (because would have had to special order the "blind" corner cabinet - and the sales associate said we had to order FIVE of them in order for them to place the order.....). Well, the corner base with lazy susan DOESN'T line up with the rest of the base cabinets. The description says it is 34" deep, like the rest of the base cabinets. However, this cabinet is AT LEAST 6" narrower than all of the other base cabinets. We have had to pull this corner cabinet out from the wall 6" in order for it to line up with the rest of the base cabinets - which causes an absolute nightmare when trying to fit a standard counter top on it. Not sure yet how we're going to deal with that problem. Overall, the Hampton Bay cabinets are built well (not great, but good for the price) and look really nice. But this corner base with lazy susan is just ridiculous. July 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by turning of the lazy susan rack is not that great the rack locks, the pin seems to be bent. i can not locate instructions on unlocking rack May 27, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lazy design on lazy susan Unlike other American Classics cabinets, this product is NOT ready to use out of the box. Must build frame on wall to compensate for the fact that unit is only 16 inches deep (instead of the standard 24 inches). November 27, 2010
