For some odd reason, Hampton Bay made the light socket housing on these outdoor lamp posts out of thin metal instead of cast aluminum like everything else on the post. Hence, if any moisture, heavy morning dew, or simple condensation gets trapped in between the thin metal sleeve and light socket, the metal sleeve will rust out at the bottom leaving the light socket hanging in mid air and exposed to the elements that eventually shorts out. This is an obvious design flaw or lack of foresight by the designers, and an unnecessary Achilles heal that will severely shorten the lifespan of your 3-head outdoor post light. Unfortunately, there seems to be no replacements available for that thin metal housing once it rusts out. If anyone has found a solution for this design flaw, please let me know because it is shameful to loose the entire Hampton Bay 3-head lamp post just because of a poorly designed metal sleeve that cost less than 50 cents... what a waste!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks nice I had this light on my deck and after 10 years the top light section rust! I really only needed a replacement for the top light section and you can not purchase that section only! The post was fine. So I ordered a whole new light/lamp post! The color from the new one still matched the old one so all we did was replace the light top section. You couldn't tell the pist was 10 yeas old and the light top section was new! We are storing the post in case in the future we may need to change the old on. I do like this light post you can't beat the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice light This light is beautiful when installed. Easy to assemble and it all fits together easily. Everything is powder coated aluminum and should hold up to weather. I found it's really easy if you are doing this project from scratch to install 3 3/8 x 5" bolts into the concrete with the supplied template when you pour the concrete. Just leave 2" above the pad. I also installed conduit in my concrete for the electrical wiring. Another thing that goes really nice in the light are the 40 watt Edison bulbs Home Depot sells. They add a nice touch.

The only con is that it does not have a sensor for auto on/off, requiring the purchase and installation of another switch with timer or a sensor, then drilling a hole in the pole to install and connect the sensor. Although I am pleased with the way it looks, I would not have bought it if I had I known it did not have a sensor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Should have been good enough Arrived quick and went together fine. Last price to cover light was stripped. This prevented me in securing the top shield on. Luckily I replaced the exact light with one that was damaged in a hail storm so I was able to use those parts. For the money it's worth it. Just wish the quality control caught this problem. Was not worth trying to take apart and fight the internet return process.

We are getting 5-10 years out of it before replacing fixture but has proved to be more cost effective than going heavy duty commercial grade in our application.
