My current lighting is not centered over my vanity because the electrical box is offset. Does this light need to be centered over the electrical box? Or can it be installed to the side?

Answer:
You can make some adjustments in locating this fixture. Remember that it is 24" wide, however your electrical run is limited unless you splice into your wiring. The mounting plate attaches to the wall via screw and plastic anchors into the drywall. (If your wall is made of drywall material.)

Answer:
Yes it can. It actually can be installed without a box (not recommended). I attached this directly to the wall not using the box as an anchor as I had the same problem you did.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 86 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Lights at a reasonable price. I read all of the reviews for this product and found most of them to be accurate. I purchased two of these light fixtures. I will summarize these noting both the pros and cons. The fixtures are packaged well in the box. I would recommend that you open the box outside, or have a vacuum nearby as the foam packing does come apart and sheds little Styrofoam beads. Both fixtures did have small minor imperfections like surface scratches on the metal facing, and the shades did have a few bubbles in the glass. The brushed nickel surface was more like brushed chrome, but I liked the look and it blended better with my other chrome fixtures, saving me from replacing them as well to match the lights. None of these flaws were significant enough for me to dislike the fixtures. Once installed you would have to get on the counter tops to really notice them, and have to have really good vision. All mounting hardware was in the box and installation was pretty easy. The metal backing plate was a little thin, and the two small bolts that hold the faceplate will need to be adjusted. What you will find is that when the backing plate is installed on the wall and you go to put the face plate on, that the bolts are a little longer that you need, leaving a small gap between the faceplate and the wall. I took the plate back off the wall and backed the bolts out, placing a few washers behind the bolt head and retightened them down. Then mounted the face plate and secured it with the two barrel nuts. It held it tight and closed the gap between the plate and wall. Yes, the mounting bolts should have been spread farther apart and nearer the ends of the fixture to better secure the plate, and eliminate the possibility of the ends of the plates bowing away from the wall and mounting base. I installed LED bulbs which were also on sale at the time, flipped the switch and the fixture looks great. Unless I point out the flaws in the material while on top of the vanity, no one can see any imperfections. This is a fairly good light and a good value for the money. August 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good light for the price paid I gave this light fixture 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the way it mounts. It mounts with only two anchors. Because of the weight of the glass shades it should really mount with four anchors at the corners because the weight of the glass shades can pull it away from the wall slightly at the top corners. Other than that this is a good light for the price paid. March 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by More like brushed chrome it's described as brushed nickel finish, but is more like a brushed chrome. In my case, I'm glad is was! I was lucky to find this. I needed fixture with nice appearance, a bar style mounting plate to avoid having to install a mounting box in wall & finish to co-ordinate with chrome. Fixtures construction is basically no different then other available now a days & cost was more than reasonable too. I also like that you can use up to 100 watt bulbs. August 9, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most economic buy This was the best choice for my master bath. I was needing to replace the lights over my double vanity and this light was perfect and since I needed two it was affordable too. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect upgrade This light fit perfectly over the same basic footprint of those outdated vanity fixtures with the big round lights that were popular about 15 years ago. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New Light We Love! This light fixture is very nice and is an excellent value for the price! Bright light. August 2, 2016
