I'm assuming the fixture accepts a medium Edison style base since it suggests A-type bulbs in the details... which means LED bulbs are fine.
I would even recommend them because the run at a VERY cool temperature for the light output.
Doing the math from the details section above, you should be able to put incandescent 75 watt bulbs in each can (225w total) but you will only use about 13 watts of energy Read More

I assume yes .... I'm using CFL's .... but, when I discussed the type of bulbs to use with the store employee ... he said any bulb would work as long as they did not exceed 60 watts each ...... due to heat transfer .........

Black inserts in the bells of this light

I have two of these lights where the black inserts actually fell out and broke into a thousand pieces. Where can I order these inserts?? Every time I try to access Hampton Bay website it takes me to the Home Depot website. Any help would be appreciated.

Having been involved in theatrical lighting including cans, the black insert was meant to keep the light in a beam pattern, so unless you need the beam-styled lighting, you don't really need them unless you are using hot bulbs (the heat will transfer to whatever is touching the metal#. LED bulbs are low enough heat that you don't need them.

LED bulbs are low enough heat that you don't need them.
All it means by removing them is that the light pattern will be allowed to diffuse and create a wider dispersion pattern #more coverage). Given that the can itself is white, this should amount to a lot of coverage as the white will act as a mild reflector.
The website doesn't say a maximum wattage... is there one in the manual, I'm curious to know before picking these up. Read Less

I haven't purchased these, but the black insert is meant to keep the light in a beam pattern, so I'm going to say wide spot. If the black insert falls out (which has been reported to happen) or is removed, the pattern will become more of a narrow flood pattern.
I imagine the final result depends on your bulb type (A-19, G-25, r24, Coil, etc), wattage, and lumination type (LED/CFL/IN).
