What is the construction of the bottom of the actual pit? I am wondering if there is a way for water to drain?

Answer:
It is steel. The stars cut out in the side would allow for some drainage but there are no drainage hole in the bottom. I guess you could drill some 1/4" hole in the bottom as long as you paint the raw steel as to keep it from rusting. I am not going to worry about the water standing in it. I am going to purchase a fire pit cover on line for about $20.00 which is waterproof.

Customer Reviews

36 in. Steel Collette Fire Pit in Bronze with delicate design is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good fire pit Had to replace my 7 yr. old pit and against my better judgement I purchased a lower cost pit from a competitor. I immediately returned it because the lid was warped and didn't fit the bowl...cheap/useless. After looking at this floor sample it was an easy choice even though it was more expensive. After assembling, its worth every penny. Better materials and construction; lid fit nicely onto an inner bowl ring, strong lower frame/leg assembly with plastic glides and with a 36" diameter bowl there is plenty of room for a blazing fire! I would recommend using a ratchet to assemble, cuts the assembly time in half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product!! I just purchased the pit today and it is great great great! Assembly was simple, even tho a tool is included you will still need a pair of pliers to tighten the nuts. It has a large capacity which can hold plenty of wood. Tonite the temp was approx. 36degrees but was warm and toasty around My New Firepit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fire pit Great fire pit. We specifically like the flat bottom which allows us to put in more wood and create a deeper pit. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Initial Review Just bought this and assembled today. Price was ok. Assembly was fairly quick except for one minor issue. There are 4 "M6x25" bolts that hold the support ring to the bowl. The bowl was "slightly" not perfectly round. Three of the bolts went in ok but the forth one was just a few millimeters short. Had to use a M6 x 30 bolt ( 5mm longer) and it worked just fine. Had no problem with installation of other parts. The sides have decorative openings to let air in but there is no drainage hole directly in the bottom of the bowl. I will use a cover during the rain. Maybe I will drill a hole. It is light enough to pick up and move I give this 4 star for now (due to bolt issue and drainage hole)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great and easy to assemble! Just brought it home & decided to put it together while hub watched sports. What a pleasant surprise! Everything was there and all fit just right. My only suggestion is to use your own socket wrench to tighten the screws. The wrench provided is rather flimsy, but usable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well So far so good. We used the fire pit during our fourth of July cookout. It worked well and cleaned up easily. We hope to use it more during the fall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! We purchased this fire pit to replace an old one we had, after shopping around, found this one to be a good size and price. We first used it Thanksgiving weekend on our deck with our adult children. It was perfect....we roasted marshmallows. The decorative sides allowed the heat to filter out towards our feet. When the top was on there were no flying embers. Would recommend to also purchase a heat resistant mat 24x24 for under it because heat does radiate from the bottom and in Time could discolor the surface under the fire pit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Portable Firepit Needed a firepit that's portable and can handle a large fire.... this was a great pick. Solid but light weight. It has a copper look and makes it appear much more expensive. Came with a cover and a fire poker tool to complement. Used it during Halloween in the front driveway..... kept us warm with lots of complements from Trick or Treaters.
