Answer:
I would not recommend painting these cabinets. They have a smooth finish and paint might not stick well.

That would be a question for a paint expert. Years ago, I was given a formica pantry which was the world's worst shade of "almond"; it looked more yellow than anything. That would be a question for a paint expert. Years ago, I was given a formica pantry which was the world's worst shade of "almond"; it looked more yellow than anything. I bought a paint supposedly made to bond to formica. It did for a while, but was extremely fragile and started flaking off like a bad sunburn. I don't know if a stain/polyurethane application would work or not - to maybe add some shading to door panels, for example, for a "rubbed" or distressed wood look. Again, a paint expert's recommendation is needed!
If it was me (looking at your cabinets), I'd add some bronze (or dark metallic) pulls and paint the walls a contrasting color. That would make the cabinets "pop". I recently remodeled my kitchen and went with antique white cabinets. Walls were painted a "cork board" color, and we added rubbed bronze pulls. It broke up that monochromatic look.

Answer:
Hello Kacey!
These cabinets can definitely be painted. You will want to prime them first with an oil based primer. After the primer has dried, you can paint them in either an oil or latex based paint. When I painted mine, I used a latex based paint in semi-gloss. I prefer semi-gloss because it is easy to clean.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great base cabinets for the money These cabinets were easy to install and look great. The top drawer is very spacious. These cabinets worked perfectly in our new dining room. October 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by These cabinets are very poorly constructed. They are cheaply made for the price.. I would not recommend them at all. We ended up ended taking them apart and fixing and reinforcing them better ourselves. just junk.. October 27, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hampton base cabinets I bought 2 of the Hampton Base cabinets in this size and a set of drawers 24" wide from Home depot a couple weeks ago. The service I received from Home Depot was excellent, the product is much less impressive. One of the 36" cabinets was boxed up like it was new, but once home and opened it was clear that this unit had been used and probably installed and then returned. The second one appeared to be new. The over all quality on all the units is very poor, there are no corner supports that usually are in place in lower cabinets and can be used to mount the counter top, there was no added support across the back either. The hardware placement for the doors was so off alignment that is was almost impossible to align the doors and both sets have gaps in the front. These are going into my sewing room so I could put up with the low quality, I would never put them into a kitchen, and do not think that they would hold up in a garage. September 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent quality for the price - dinky shelf This completely fit our budget and kitchen space, so overall the cabinet works just fine for us. I don't mind that some of it is pressed wood/particle board. But it is fully functional and seems sturdy enough for what we needed. However, the adjustable shelf in the main cabinet (under the drawer) is less than 10" wide - which is pretty much useless. We ended up with white wire rack freestanding shelves/organizers and those do the trick just fine. 'No assembly' was also quite nice. September 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worked well for a basic bathroom install. used in a bathroom for a factory. no problem to install. September 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for my uses, wouldn't use them as kitchen cabinets We purchased two of these for a garden harvest prep area off my main kitchen. Our garden furnishes about 75% of our veggie needs through the winter, so the prep area is a huge help. The cabinets are sturdy and provide great storage space underneath! For a laundry area or storage, they do an excellent job. Now for the cons: there were several small chips in the finish at corners. We had to adjust all the cabinet doors and take apart/fix one drawer which was leaning right so badly that it was rubbing a door underneath. Not a big deal since we've installed numerous cabinets before, but these weren't cheaply priced. If these were going to be used as your main kitchen cabinets, the chips would be a problem. Nothing was visible in the packaging, so we didn't see the flaws till we got home and removed all the cardboard wrappings. These are fairly heavy so I wouldn't want to have to reload them and return them. I would recommend these if you're looking for sturdy cabinets and you're not particular about possible flaws, and you don't mind adjusting doors/drawers. We could've saved a little money by driving an hour to a competitor's, but we wanted to support our local store - and time/gas figures into cost as much as the cash register receipt. August 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied with the Cabinets We bought 2 cabinets for our plant break room and both work great. The drawers are a nice size and slide smoothly. The cabinet space underneath is ample, although an extra shelf would have been welcome. We bought new drawer pulls to match the others in the room. There was no assembly required. We're very satisfied with the look and function of the cabinets. December 8, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Junk These are overpriced utility cabinets. After installing two lowers and two uppers in the kitchen, we took them back down and moved them to my husband's shop. One had a flaw in the finish, one had a small gouge out of it that is very visible. And of course, none of this is visible in their packaging. They're attractive (from a distance), but with no inner frame, cleats, toe kick, or center support between the doors, these are bare bone particleboard boxes. June 28, 2016
