I WAS LOOKING FOR AN AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC FIREPLACE FOR MY OFFICE AT WORK. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE PRICE AND WAS NOT EXPECTING MUCH SINCE IT WAS SO INEXPENSIVE. WAS I EVER WRONG! IT IS BEAUTIFUL, WELL MADE, EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND WORKS PERFECTLY. THE FLAME LOOKS REAL, IT HEATS A GOOD SIZED ROOM QUICKLY AND IS VERY NEUTRAL SO IT MATCHES MOST DECOR. WE ARE BUYING A SECOND ONE FOR OUR BEDROOM!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sandkdawson Warped mantle top, twice, Company has terrible customer service
I purchased this for Christmas. Store model looked great. Materials are normal veneer. Put together easily. Mantel top was warped and veneer was peeling, so when I put it on it left a 1/4 inch gap that was very noticable. Called the company. Their response was terrible. They said someone would contact me, they didn't. I tried calling back several times and got a voice mail. Through the website CS portal the told me to upload pics of my issues. Their website wouldn't allow it. I gave up and returned it to HD. The one I got in it's place is just as bad. Terrible experience.

You will not find a better product for the money! Please do not back away from buying this prodcut because of the bad reviews about the gap. I believe the manufacturer addressed the issue by recessing the top mantle peice, having the moulding cover any gaps that might occur. Even if there were a gap at any of the seams, applying a small bead of caulk on the back side would fix it. Product works great and looks even better!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Elle Beware!
There is about an hour assembly time with this unit. After completion (minus the heater/fire box), we noticed that the top piece was warped. Upon measuring with a level, the center was bowed and each side was 1/4" lower than the center creating a gap on the front facade. This wouldn't be that noticeable if you stood up next to the fireplace but if you are sitting down, it is quite noticeable against a light colored wall. Being displeased with this, we promptly returned it to the store to exchange. We found that upon inspection, the display unit also had the same issue and you could see the wood pegs in the gap on that one as well. Was told it "must be a manufacturer error". We got our money back & caution you to save your time and not give this one a try.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Amanda Good, but not great
Like many others when I put together my fireplace the mantel didn't fit quite right, but since I read the reviews I knew that before hand. However I didn't know that to put the bottom on it you REALLY need two people, one to hold it together and one to screw it in, but besides that putting it together was pretty easy. One unexpected thing is the noise! When you have a fire going it sounds like a low rattling sound, constantly, which is pretty anoying. Over all it heats well and is pretty, even though the flames don't look real, but I'd get one that is a bit higher quality if given the choice again

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dennis The heater part works good, really poor construction though
The actual fireplace/heater part of this unit is nice. But its the same one used in a bunch of other units... As others have said, the mantle piece to this unit is warped. After putting it together for over an hour, I set the mantle on (last step) and there was a big gap. I was really not impressed. Also, the material was just cheap (I hate particle board), and the finish scratches really easy... I had to return another unit to get this one, because I had it shipped and it arrived damaged. So I purchased this one in store. Im really quite annoyed.
Funny thing is I didnt feel like dealing with taking it back apart and returning it. But I went back to HomeDepot a couple weeks later to buy some epoxy and noticed all of the boxes in the store for this fireplace were open, and the mantles were out of all the boxes. They were ALL warped, and the manager told me to bring mine back all put together and they would replace it with a higher model. I was EXTREMELY happy with how they handled the return for this product. Glad to know they pulled it from the shelves so others wont have to go through it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DaveB Fairly easy, tedious assembly - mantle warped
As with many other reviews, the mantle is warped and there is a gap between the mantle and base unit. I went back to Home Depot and the display unit had a warped mantle, as did the 3 units they opened trying to find a piece that wasn't warped. I went to another Home Depot store who had a display unit (none in stock) and that also was warped. I DID NOT feel like taking this thing apart and packing it up for return. I took a length of furring strip, colored it with the included touch up pen, and affixed it to the backside of the mantle right behind the gap. It covers the gap perfectly though was a step that no one should have had to take with a brand new item. I would recommend that Home Depot stop selling this particular product.
